Many of the moms of 2+ tell me that they love their kids equally, but that it took some time for them to love their kids equally.
How long did it take for you?

I haven't given birth yet but I already love #2 just as much as #1.

It was instantaneous for me with both kids. The moment I heard my babies cry I feel completely in love with them; Ididn't have any time at all where I felt I loved one more than the other, honestly. As soon as DS was born, I loved them exactly the same.

Hmmm well I'll be honest and say I really don't know when the "equal love" part started. It's really all a blur to me now... Probably pretty soon after #2's birth. I say that because I bonded with #2 super fast... Much faster than I had with #1 as a newborn. That's because all the sleep deprivation and bf'ing issues were a shock to me with the first so it was just harder to bond with her right off the bat. With #2, because I already knew what to expect, I enjoyed her and bonded with her as a newborn much faster and easier.
Eta: and I agree with pp who said she never loved one more than the other at any given time. That's true also for me, but I will say that there are definitely times I have to focus my attn to one child a lot more than the other, but it doesn't mean I love one more or less.
