So I'm thinking about getting a jogging stroller. I have strollers for everyday use, so this would be strictly for running. Other features (not related to running) aren't too important to me.
One of my friends suggested the Baby Jogger City Mini, but I read somewhere that it's not a true jogging stroller. Now I can't find where I read that and why.
Anyhow, would love to hear thoughts from running mamas on here.

The Bob. If you go to any running store that's what they'll suggest. We don't have a baby yet but we already have a Bob. A cousin of ours was selling her used one for half the retail price so we went for it. She is a serious athlete and she had the City Mini Jogger and the Bob and she liked the Bob much better for running. It maneuvers sooooo easily.

many people have told me that the babyjogger is not a true jogging stroller. the bob seems to be the gold standard and is what i was actually going to get (even though i never jog).

I've heard great things about the Bob for jogging, some friends also like the Bumbleride.

baby jogger is not a proper running stroller. I mean you could run with it but it wouldn't be pleasant.
I have heard Bob is great. Just make sure it has a long wheel base, large wheels and a fixed front wheel.
I have an in step stroller. It was $140 from target. It's kind of cheap and we wish we had gone for a Bob but we didn't know if we would be able to get it to Australia ( long story, crazy town shipping prices). However, it does the job and has been my saviour.

I think that anything with a swivel front wheel option is not a true jogger. The city mini also has much smaller wheels than most joggers. We have the city mini and my baby sitter has actually flipped the stroller over with our son in it a few months back. Granted she didn't have the front wheel locked, but the wheels are just too small to provide stability when moving fast.
We have a chariot jogger/bike trailer and really like it but the baby has to be over 1 year old to sit in it.

@BoogieBea: The wheels on it are waaay to small. Plus the stroller itself is too heavy for a running stroller. I would love to have a chariot ... but they are $1800 here and really hard to find somewhere that sells them.
Just because a stroller has 3 wheels doesn't mean it's a running one!

@MamaMoose: Awesome that you got it at a good price! I am going to check out my moms' group and Craigslist for deals. If that doesn't work out, i'll splurge for a new one. Just curious, which Bob do you have? There are so many different kinds, I'm overwhelmed looking at each different type right now...

@NYCaliMama: Omg I was totally going to start this thread! I'm thinking about getting a Bob, but I want a jogger that I can use when I have #2 as well.. I think Bob's double strollers are side by side. :T

@chopsuey119: so this lady in my building has a double BOB. Her girls are 2 yrs apart. she loves it. It's huge!! And yes, side by side, but because we are moving to the burbs this isn't much of an issue for us anymore. I'm also debating single or double. Wondering if I should just run when the older DD is in school or will I actually run with both girls? Hard to say... Good luck with TTC #2! fun!

I have a BOB and love it. We bought the older Revolution for a steal when the remodeled 2011 came out. If you're only going to use it for running and nothing else, I would get the sport utility or ironman model, depending on where you run (trails vs streets).

Ok, Baby Jogger is a brand and they make several different models of strollers. They make two real jogging strollers, the FIT and the Summit XC. The FIT is a fixed 16 inch front wheel, like the Bob Sport Utility. The summit has a swivel front wheel that is 12 inches with 16 inch rear wheels, like the Bob Revolution.
I own the Summit and I LOVE it. I tried out the bob revolution as well, and much preferred the baby jogger summit. They made some changes to the Bob strollers last year and the jacked the prices up more. I thought the Baby Jogger looked more comfortable, folds one handed, had better straps/buckles and was $50 cheaper new. They also have a slightly taller handlebar and the seat back is an inch taller for older/taller kids. They have quick release wheels and it folds flatter than most do.
Just wanted you all to know Baby Jogger does make legit jogging strollers and they are awesome. You can't go wrong with a Bob either, but I hate that they jacked the price.

Everyone seems to love the Bob. I'm a runner, but more of a casual runner, and we decided to go with the Joovy Zoom. It costs about half of what a Bob does but is well-reviewed and seems to have many of the same features as the Bob. I think it could definitely be a suitable alternative to the higher-priced strollers (although still not cheap).

@cupcakemama: that's ok; it seems like most people only know Baby Jogger for the City Mini because it is so popular.
The Bob Revolution and the Baby Jogger Summit have front wheels that can be locked into place. It's a great option for a runner who wants the best of all worlds.
The easiest way to tell if a stroller can is meant for running is the wheels. The rear wheels will be at least 16 inches and the front wheel will be at least 12 inches if it swivels/locks in place or 16 inches if it is fixed wheel. (Baby Jogger also makes a City Elite, which is a 3 wheel, all 12 inches, and the front wheel locks. It's meant as an all terrain stroller though, not a jogger. The rear wheels are too small.)
We looked at the Joovy Zoom too. I couldn't find one to see in person though, and wanted one with an infant seat adapter.

@skibobrown: thanks for your input! I'm a casual runner too... I actually haven't run in a while... I'm hoping this purchase helps with that. Joovy Zoom seems like a great contender!

@cupcakemama: Thanks!! I just got it yesterday and assembled it last night! Waiting for the pollen to die down a bit and for my cold to go away completely before I take it out!
I was debating between the Ironman and the Revolution SE. Got the Revolution because the Ironman's front wheel doesn't unlock and swivel. The Revolution's locks in place and also unlocks! Really wanted a yellow Bob, but settled for Orange!

@chopsuey119: My running pram is a cheapo one. I love it but wish it were higher quality. But it is a pain in the a$$ to get another one out here.
One of the things I wish it had was a front wheel that would unlock for when I am not running. I would probably use it all the time, everywhere!

UPDATE: Thanks all for your recs!!! After a week of researching, debating between single vs. double, and checking out the strollers in person, we decided to go with the BOB Revolution SE in PLUM! I'm so excited!!! Ordering it today and hope to be jogging again by the end of the week
