Does anyone have any experience with monthly subscription boxes? I'm thinking about getting some for the family and wondered what people think of them? Would it be something you'd like to receive as a gift?
Some that I've looked at are Lootbox, birch box, craftistas, and kiwi crate. I feel like I could find something for everyone on my list, which could be convenient lol.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Kiwi Crate. My daughter loves it, you don't need anything else beyond what is in the box and the crafts are neat. There is an educational component to it, which is nice, and it is wonderful.
I don't know anything else about the other monthly subscriptions you have listed though.

I dont honestly recommend Birchbox. I was pretty unhappy with their shipping and customer service.
I got some decent stuff, but most of it was tiny, tiny samples and went unused.

@MrsTal: DD, who is 3.5 years old, is the one who the box is perfect for and she needs help with most crafts. DS is 19 months old and he is certainly too young for it. I don't know how a 2 year old would do. It might be a little out of his comfort zone, because there are some where I think the crafts are just a little out of DD's league.

I don't recommend Citrus Lane. I only got one box, but I was disappointed. I hope to find another one.

@MrsTal: @MamaBehr: we do kiwi crate as well, and it's definitely too involved for my 2 yr old (25 months). My 5 year old enjoys it but sometimes the concepts are above her head as well. But all in all it's a well thought out and nicely presented box and a great gift. They also do a la carte boxes that you can buy without getting the full sub if you want to try it out..

Reviving this thread... Wondering if anyone has tried any others? I'm anxiously awaiting a Googaro box after reading about it on the blog here, but just bought one month to see how I like it. I've also looked at Bluum. Any experience with those or others?

I really love Kiwi Crate as well. My mother buys the subscription for my son sporadically and he loves getting them and doing the projects.
