I get confused when someone ask me how many months too, I usually just go back "normal" months though. So I'm almost 7 months along due in October (and it ends up being 10 months in real time.)

I count like birthdays. I have completed 27 weeks today, so I'm 27 weeks pregnant. I'm IN my 28th week, but not 28 weeks yet.

As far as months, my first date of LMP was Dec 20 - so on Jan 20 I was one month, February 20 two months, and so on. I just reached 6 months a few days ago

ETA - my reasoning for the months is because some months have more than, or less than, a set amount of weeks. come September 20/25, I'll be 9 months!

I noticed that a lot of people have trouble with weeks, so I started saying 4 months when I hit 16weeks. My husband actually had a really hard time remembering how many weeks and he would get flustered when asked, and usually ended up spitting out, "She's in her second mester."

Yeah, totally not a real word. So he likes the month thing WAY better!

@jholler25: I usually tell all non-pregnant people/moms my pregnancy duration in months, not weeks. If I'm in between, I just say "almost 5 months" for example.

I count myself in weeks, but I tell people how far along I am in months since most don't understand the weeks. When I do months, I count calendar months, though, not 4 weeks=1 month.

@sorrycharlie: Funny, we both count the same way and are both due in Sept, but in months I'm 7 months tomorrow!

I count in the 40-week way if I'm talking to a recent mom or someone who is pregnant. I give months when I'm talking to guys or girls who have never been pregnant, and I skip the first two weeks.

Examples:

to my BFF: "I'm 38 weeks today!"
to my hubs' BFF: "I'm abut 9 months pregnant."

@cyneswith: that's a good way of phrasing what i said in an easier manner, lol! counting backwards is the same as counting from your LMP..because some months are 4 weeks, while others are 5. so it's not really 10 months..thank god! i'm totally gonna steal that explanation from him (counting backwards).

This has completely confused me too. Because if i count from my LMP, i'm 5 months. but counting back from my due date, i have 4 months and 1 week left, which means i'm not quite at 5 months. If you do the weeks divided by 4, i think it overstates how far along you are. i'm 21 weeks, but not 5 months and 1 week. it's all very confusing.

BUT, most people that ask you don't care. So round to the nearest month. 5 months it is.
