This article had me laughing! Esp. the part about making your own cards. Seriously, I think Mother's Day only becomes fun when your children are grown up!!

so true!
Especially the going out to eat part - no thanks, I'll stay home!

I so agree.
My mom currently watches DD2 pretty much full time; so we agreed to do nothing for Mother's Day... We don't need more stress!

@winniebee: well we are going to be out of town and won't see either of our Mothers. So much for it being fun with adult kids.

Yeahhhhh this is why we don't do Mother's Day brunch as a family. I go by myself! Best way to do it.

We don't do brunch. I ask my husband to take me to an early dinner at my favorite restaurant. Then I spend Mother's Day with my mom (especially this year because she lost her mom in January).

We went to brunch this past weekend to test out brunch for this weekend. Eating out with a little person is overrated. I couldn't believe we were back home in just over a hour. We are keeping our brunch plans for Sat since it's close to a nature trail for a stroller hike, but my expectations are way lowered.

This is why we go to a minor league baseball game! Dad gets to run around with the kids and I get to sit back and enjoy the game with a nice cold beer. We also tailgate beforehand with a nice spread of food and mimosas (or whatever drink I'm feeling like that day!).

"Now go call your mother for an hour while I help the kids make my Mother’s Day cards."
Yep.

LOL. Yeah, we're taking MIL out to a fancy brunch on *Saturday* - then on actual Mother's Day, my plan is to peace the fuck out and to get myself a pedicure, haircut, then spend some coffee/pastry/cafe time with my Kindle.

Hahahahahahahaha I am dying. This year, my husband's boss's wife is expecting a baby very close to Mother's Day so I told him "Don't worry about it, babe! They really need you at work this year and we can go out to eat any time." I am a selfless person.
Also I'm a former waitress.

This is amazing and so true!!! There are 20 of us going out for Mother's Day Brunch on Sunday. It wasn't easy finding a restaurant to take us all. I should know, I made the reservations. Where's the eyeroll emoji?!

The headline made me laugh out loud. I love approaching motherhood with a good dose of levity.

And I am going out to brunch on mother's day with DH and LO because we don't have a babysitter...oops...

Lol. My only request for Mother's Day was "no brunch".

This is why I'm holding the brunch at my house, parents all come over so free babysitters and my favorite food

@Mamaof2: yup! My thoughts exactly. We have a 1, 3, and 5 year old so eating out never happens. We thought we could go to breakfast at Panera as a family of 5 and thought how bad could it be. Yeah never again. Disaster.
But I love brunch and really want to enjoy it but maybe in 5 years
