Uggh these things always creep up!
I'm currently thinking to do a nice early dinner on Sunday for my mom at our house; that way I don't have to lug the kids out and that will be a present for me already haha!

Going on a weekend to a spa/resort for my birthday/mother's day, ahhh. Then the following weekend we'll probably do a brunch with MIL, we owe her - she will have taken DD for the entire weekend FOUR times in about a six-week span while we've been moving recently.

@PawPrints: We owe my mom big time too b/c she has just gone above & beyond for us since #2 came along!

We are going out of town. It's always a few days from my bday we are going to a nice brunch. My mom isn't much into cards or gifts. DH is on his own for MIL.

Last year I decided to take the bull by the horns and stated what I wanted to do. It was awesome and I loved MD weekend last year so I'm doing exactly the same this year. Hopefully it will become sort of a tradition.
Saturday Morning - Zoo with LO & DH
Saturday Afternoon during nap - massage
Saturday night - Date night!
Sunday morning - volunteer in nursery at church (leave DS at home) and go to brunch BY MYSELF!
Sunday afternoon - playground, dinner with DH & LO
It was the perfect combo of family time, couple time, and time for myself.

Doing: It's big breakfast at church so we will have a potluck breakfast and we may go out to lunch with my mom and dad.
Getting: No idea. Probably a card.
Giving: I think I want to give flowers that can be planted that are the color of my/our (girls) birthstones, so it's a visual reminder of their grandchildren.

@SweetiePie: Im going to follow your lead and book a hot stone massage!
I'd like to go out for brunch and get a massage. We will see as DH is very hesistant about going to a restaurant with LO. If I can get my act together I will send the grand moms cards and nicer pictures of LO.

Oh and for what I'll give - I'm going to visit my parent the weekend after so I'll probably see if my mom needs anything around the house.
For my MIL we'll probably just do flowers and maybe something personalized with pics like a phone cover.

No idea what to get my Mom! I'll be with her & my sister that weekend and we're going to see if we can all get a brunch reservation somewhere with our families.... I should probably get my sister something small too.
I'm asking for my favorite perfume because I'm out!

I am gifting my mom a massage and will be getting my grandma a bird feeder that she can hang by her window. And then pics of DS of course. Not sure about MIL. I had a breastmilk ring made and it should be ready by Mother's Day

I'm not getting any gifts, per my request. DH is working on Mother's Day but has the following Monday off - my one request is that I don't have to do any cooking. We will eat out for breakfast, takeout for lunch or dinner, and DH will attempt to cook one meal. On the actual day DD and I will probably go to a couple of parks we like if the weather is decent.
Not sure what I am giving my mom yet. DH doesn't give his mom gifts but will send a card if I bug him enough.

@catgirl: that is actually like the greatest gift I can think of--not having to think about a whole day's worth of meals. If I just said I didn't want to cook, I feel like I would still have to figure out where we are eating out, or where we are ordering delivery from. But it's genius to specify that my gift is that I don't have to even THINK about where the food comes from for an entire day!!
I think you just gave me what I want most for mother's day.

So recently someone asked me what my favorite holiday was, I said Mother's Day, becuase I earn that one lol. Usually me, my 2 SIl's and MIL exchange a small gift. DH will probably be working on Mother's Day, but I'm hopeful he'll be off one day that week. There is a huge beautiful plant nursery about an hour from here. I want to go ooo and ahhh over the flowers, And maybe bring a few home! So that's potentially the plan!

@Anagram: it's better than any item I can come up with, I don't want for much. I get to pick the restaurant and take out, but that's because I want to pick. (and DH doesn't get to complain if I pick a place he doesn't really like). I've told DH that he has to figure out the other meal all on his own though. Oh, and I am not cleaning up the kitchen at all.

Doing--church, massage, brunch
Getting--not sure
Giving--my mom a framed watercolor I am currently working on, DH already has a gift for his mom.

I don't like Hallmark holidays. I am the newest mom in my family, but Mother's Day is all about fulfilling the grandmothers' expectations. We will probably just plan a group brunch at a crowded restaurant to check the box.

My mom, sister, and I always have a spa day around Mother's Day, so that's for my mom. I am working on Mother's Day weekend (and Father's Day weekend), so we've decided to take the kids to the National Zoo on a weekend between to celebrate both days.

Doing- probably not a whole lot since DH is almost definitely going to have to work (restaurant manager in a university town during college graduation means he never gets this weekend off, plus his boss's wife is due that week!). Hoping he gets a half day so we can go strawberry picking with DD which is what we usually do before he works dinner shift.
Getting- would love my patio to get scrubbed and organized!
Giving- my mom will get plants of some kind for her vegetable and flower garden. MIL I have no idea- maybe a painting from the kiddos in a nice frame?

DH works so not sure what we will do. Something the next day probably...
I asked for a pair of hunter clogs. Or id like a necklace.
Got MIL a candle, linen spray, etc from a local company. Not sure what to get my mom.

I don't have it all planned out, but I am going to sleep in. My closest girlfriends and I are going to a kid free brunch. Maybe pedicures.
I will probably frame a photo of my girls for my mom, MIL, and grandmother.
I don't expect any gifts, but hope I get lots of cuddles (after I get my "me" time).

I am hoping to take a family hike and go out for dinner on Saturday. But this past weekend it was really clear to me that we need to spend at least one day soon doing yard work, so maybe I will see yard progress as a MD gift.
Sunday we will probably do the rounds to the moms in our lives. My mom and I continue to be estranged so I'm not planning to get her something, but will reach out to see if she wants to meet up.

@Coral: that is so pretty!
Just in time an Olive & Cocoa catalog arrived with similar boxed floral arrangements. Is Sola a similar concept?

Not doing gifts for each other this year because we just moved (gulp - all the expenses!), but for our mothers we will send flowers.
Also, yankee candle is letting you personalize a label with a photo this year. I thought that was cool.
The day of, we are planning to take DS (17 months) on a picnic!

Right now, my plan is to take a half day on Friday for myself while the kids are at daycare and have a nice lunch with DH. There is a ring that I would love to get to commemorate this year (first Mother's Day with DS) but we will see.
On the actual day, we will probably have brunch with MIL.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Not sure! Are they artificial? These ones are carved out of wood. Ecoflowers also makes them but this etsy shop does it MUCH faster.
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
@Coral: carved wood flowers! I just thought you meant the box. I am looking that up right now. The Olive Cocoa are fresh flowers and they have a monthly subscription box. The catalog was pretty to browse, but too rich for my blood.

@avivoca: love that idea of the flowers matching a birthstone color! I might steal that for my mom

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Look on etsy! Ecoflowers has terrible reviews for taking MONTHS. I used curious floral on etsy.

We are staying at a local B&B on Saturday night (a gift we got from FIL for Christmas) and we are coming home Sunday morning so I can be with LO!
