I know Mrs. Jacks moved when Little Jacks was 4 months (I think?). We'll be moving soon, but DS will be 9+ months, so I'm not much help there.

Do you have a pediatricain yet? Maybe you can ask him/her about moving with a newborn? Is there anyway you could extend your DH's start date for another month or so? Personally, I think it'd be easier to do it at the end of your pregnancy than with a newborn, as well, but I understand that might not be an option for you.

We moved when our LO was 2 months and drove many many hours. I was really worried about it but it was fine, and LO slept the entire way. I'd say 3 weeks might be soon, I probably wouldn't have felt comfortable until 5 or 6 weeks following delivery. Good luck!

We moved at 5 months, but we were commuting at 4 months. Good luck. Make the movers do everything!! Can your parents or friends come help? Extra hands just helps so much. The long ride- see if you can pump in the car and feed on the go. It will make everything easier when you are on the road, so you don't have to pull over and nurse for 45+minutes each time. It helped us when we did long car trips when she was younger.

I have a friend who moved to a different state when her baby was just a week and a half old. She said it wasn't bad at all.

I waited until my son was 8 weeks old since I was flying and my pediatrician advised to wait for the first round of vaccinations. BUt my husband ended up leaving 2 weeks after he was born and got things settled on that end and I just hoped on a plane with my mom and sister plus my 8 week old and 22 month old. Not ideal but it did work out fine. He slept most of the way and being on a plane I could nurse him whenever I needed to. So if taking a train or flying is an option you should consider that. Not too sure how comfortable I would of been in a car at 3 weeks.

I moved with a newborn from Seattle to Utah. At 5 weeks, we all trucked off to Utah and bought a house which we moved into when she was 4 months old (as Honeybee stated). It all went really smoothly and I wouldn't have changed a thing (except I would have driven with my partner for the 16 hr drive instead of caravaning!)

We moved halfway across the country when DD was 4 months old. It went fine. We did a weeklong roadtrip to get to our new home. Just make sure you line up a new pediatrician ASAP when you move. Also, the other think that sucked was that our moving truck didn't show up for more than a week after we arrived at our new house. Camping out in our own house with the baby and no furniture was kind of a pain... but I think baby loved it since there was lots of space for her to roll around on the floor and play!

I hate moving no matter when I have to do it, so a few tips I have picked up along the way:
1. pack a survival box with toilet paper, paper towel, hand sanitizer, bottled water and snacks, diapers, wipes
2. Have extra garbage bags on hand for trash and also last minute packing
3. Go through your closet and purge stuff you haven't worn, don't move it if you don't use it!
4. Pack according to a system and label the boxes: 1 for must unpack right away, 2 for unpacking in a few weeks, 3 for long term storage.
5. Help your movers, label the rooms alphabetically on a floor plan in your new home, and then add the unpacking urgency, so master bedroom is room A, and then the boxes in there range A1, A2, A3.
6. Arrange to have things delivered to your new home if you can. Don't buy big furniture like a crib until you get to your final destination.
7. Check your insurance and see if you can arrange telephone calls with a new pediatrician. Make sure you get copies of all your medical records!
