We got two cribs because we know we'll need them in the long run and you'd hate to have one crib and have the style discontinued before you get the other. Right now we're using auto rnp's though. Our setup is l shaped to make better use of space in the room. I'm not sure if I'll like that once they get here though.

Your picture with white cribs is our alternative if I don't like the l shaped setup - it just takes up a lot of room.

I have 2 but started them off together. At 2 months old my little guy started worming all over the place so separated them. Mine are set up on 2 separate walls but put them that way just because it was the only way to get them both on internal walls. Our house is old with poor insulation so being winter babies wanted their cribs off external walls.

We have two cribs because I knew I always wanted them to sleep independently. I've heard sharing a crib can be a sids risk, although the divider probably negates that risk. When my LOs slept in our room they slept in the bassinets of the twin pack n play until Alice rejected that and started sleeping in the swing. At 9 weeks old we transitioned them to their own cribs. They never took comfort from each other when they were tiny so that wasn't a concern for me. Actually, Alice screamed when we tried to lay them down together for pictures. She must have known he was competition for the food. I'll see if I can find a pic of our nursery configuration when it was somewhat cleaned up.

@bluestriped bee: Maybe my twins are an anomaly! They like each other now and actually show each other affection, but they really were oblivious to each other for a while. Even when they started discovering each other (around 8 weeks because it was at 4th of July!) they didn't seem to find each other comforting. Just a new little person to touch/discover/taste. At 11 months old, they hug, laugh at each other, chase each other, and tandem nurse with one laying his/her head on the other's tummy, but still don't interact at all when they're in their cribs. They never babble, smile, laugh, wave at each other at all in there, although they can see each other in their cribs. It's like they just never notice the other when they're in there. They're probably too pissed off that I'm trying to make them sleep somewhere other than on me to take note of the other baby. I'm getting all nostalgic about them turning one soon, so I'll share a pic of them with Alice angry about having to sit next to Blake. This was super typical of the early days. One time when they were maybe three months old I put them together in the Boppy lounger and she just looked at him and didn't start crying. That was a turning point I guess, haha.

@bluestriped bee: My kids won't sleep in the PCI n play very well because they are apparently high maintenance. We ordered 5" mattresses (same as our crib mattress) for about $60 off amazon and we are trying them this weekend! I'm hoping that helps.

@marionberry: Glad it's not just mine! How are you and your boys doing?

Regarding the bed - we don't have a bed in our nursery, but we do have two big recliners. I've logged many hours sleeping there! I prefer being able to sit up if I'm going to sleep with them because a. I'm paranoid of rolling over on them or smothering them if I'm in bed and b. I can nurse both while sitting up in the recliner. Side lying nursing is awesome but I can only do one at a time that way. Sitting up in the recliner I can nurse them both simultaneously. You could, of course, sit up in bed, but it's always taken a lot of pillows to prop myself up in bed when I'm nursing both. I find the position needed to do both at the same time is a lot more precise than nursing one at a time!

@twodoghouse: We're doing pretty good, thanks for asking. The boys are finally getting over their colds and we're starting to settle into a little bit of a routine. They're still not sleeping that well at night but I have faith this will change soon. If not, my husband may leave me, LOL. While we are talking twin advice, how long did it take for your belly to go back to normal? I have tons of stretchy skin and belly weight and I'm worried it may permanently be there.
