Does anyone have experience with Music Together classes? Can you share your thoughts? Would it be appropriate for a 7 mo at all? LO is deaf but enjoys when I sing so I thought he might like this.

We started this week. I think a 7-month-old would like it. It's a little hokey (maybe it's just our teacher?) but B loved it.

I took ds when he was 9 months and he was the youngest in class. He didn't like the loud noises from instruments and the bigger kids.

Agree that it's a hokey but my LO seemed to like it. Our teacher really emphasized parents holding their babies and either moving them with the music or physically tapping the rhythm of the music out on their bodies so they could "feel" it, so it's more of an experience than just hearing the music. The one near us also has a babies only class - I'm pretty sure they all offer a free trial class if you want to check it out before you sign up.

We did several sessions of Music Together and it was a mixed ages class, so mostly the families with babies had older siblings but like @Madison43: says, they do have a babies only class and you can try it out. My DD really enjoyed it and the babies in the class seemed to have fun watching and chewing on the instruments

We've done it since Lo was 3 months old. He loves the music!! It is very teacher dependent on how good the class is though.

My DD has moderate hearing loss and she adores her Music Together class. We didn't start going until she was 17 months, but she probably would have liked it earlier. There is a lot of exploring instruments and movement, plus a lot of parent/child interaction time.
I've also read some research saying that parent/child interactive music classes result in a measurable improvement in cognitive skills, so there's that. I've been taking DD to Music Together for a year now, and I plan on taking her until she "ages out."
I take my 7mo DS, but I really only take him along because it's free for siblings under 1 and I don't have childcare for him during that time. Today was the first day that I thought he enjoyed the class. He seemed mesmerized by the other kids and the teacher.

We LOVE music together. We have an amazing teacher who is great about interacting with everyone and making the class super fun. We first signed up when she was 18 months old and have been taking classes since - she's almost 3 now. Even when she was 18 months, she would try to sing along and loved going to classes. I think your LO would love it - they have instruments and props like scarves, blankets, etc that the kids really enjoy

We did it with DS from about 9 months to 12 months. He really liked it, he would actually sit and listen to the music and play with the instruments instead of running around.

@spaniellove: We did Music Together starting when my LO was 6 months. Our area is small so there's no baby only class and we were in a mixed age class. She was obviously one of the young ones. She LOVED it. We're still doing it a year later and she still loves it. I highly recommend Music Together classes!

We love music together!! Started going when she was about 10 months and she loved it! They give you a cd and packet with all the songs so you can really know them for class. Also it's great for other kid interaction! I highly recommend it!

We started at 11 months and LO loved it. We aren't doing it this session because she was by far the oldest in her class in the fall (she's 30 months now). She was starting to not have as much fun but she still loves music.

I did it with LO at 9 months. She was somewhere in the middle in terms of age. There were definitely babies younger than her. We actually still play the music, and she knows and sings some of the songs now a year later. I think the dynamics of the class depend on each individual class as well as the LO. We also love the MT Pandora station.

Thank you guys for all the input! We decided to try it and it was exactly as everyone described. Yes, it was a little hokey, haha. LO was the youngest in the group by a lot (the other kids were running around) but I made it work for the movement parts since he likes to stand with help and bounce, and the other kids brought him things to play with. He also seemed to like watching the rest of the group and imitating them, so I didn't think it was a problem at all that he was the youngest!
