My LO's favorite book is "If I Were a Kitten", it has great textures for babies to feel, and is made by Jellycat. She also has some Fancy Nancy books, which seem to be very popular, but is too young for them now.

Shel Silverstein, good night moon, Snuggle puppy, moo baa la la la, Little Critter books, lift the flap books (we have nat geo ones but I don't think it matters, now at 2 she doesn't rip them anymore and just loves lifting and moving stuff on the pages)

Everything by Oliver Jeffers, Curious George, the Elmer books, Corduroy, the Olivia books, Madeline, I like some, but not all of the Eric Carle books.

@hilsy85: we just had a friend bring us The Day the Crayons Quit, and I think we have them all now. Stuck is probably our favorite.

My son LOVES his Peek-a Who? book. @PurplePeony: we went to Taiwan while I was pregnant and picked up some books in Chinese. Wish we would have gotten more!

Agree on Sandra Boynton--our favorites are But Not the Hippopotamus and The Going to Bed Book. I also like the tiny Dr. Seuss board books...you can get them at Target and I'm sure lots of other places, but mini ones are cool b/c the stories are short enough to hold the attention of my 5 month old, and are also her favorite thing to chew on. Whereas long Dr. Seuss books, like One Fish, Two Fish... are way too long for a baby. Or my baby, anyway. And Goodnight Moon! Or Goodnight Ipad, depending on your style.

@PurplePeony: Wow, that would be so cool to have all sorts of baby/kid books in different languages! Once your LO got really familiar with a certain book, it would be neat to be able to give them the same book in a different language - even if they couldn't read it, just seeing their favorite words would be fun. We have a copy of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" in Latin, which is a nice holiday conversation piece!
