I'm so worried and so pissed off right now. We've taken her in THREE times for a bad cough and each time her ped ruled out pneumonia or fluids in her lungs. He sent her for a xray today to rule out foreign objects and they found fluids.
Dr prescribed amoxicillin.
Any other tips besides running a cool mist humidifier to speed her healing?
Any and all thoughts greatly appreciated!!

Aw poor thing!! I'm so sorry. I would just sit in a closed off bathroom with the hot shower running as much as you can to try to break up the fluid so she can cough it out.

Ugh, I remember your allergy post and then this. My son has had a nasty cough for 8 weeks now and sounds much like what you described in the allergy. And now your poor baby.

Oh that's terrible, so sorry to hear!
I would suggest that you watch for an amox. allergy. It might not show up until towards the last few days of the treatment, but if it begins with a bright red face, and spreads, get her back to the doctor immediately.

Poor girl! At least she finally has the proper diagnosis and is receiving the correct treatment. Wishing her a speedy recovery!

Oh no!!! Glad it was diagnosed out patient though, I know if a pt is diagnosed in the ER they're automatically admitted so atleast M gets to be comfy at home!
I think I've heard nurses massaging the back to help the fluid not settle, & have read about moving bebe a lot for the same reason. (Don't know how true that is) I would do lots of steamy shower sits to keep it loose & lots of snuggles!
I'll definitely be praying for a speedy recovery!!

We have a terrible time with amoxicillin. It knocks out infections really well, but does really well on good bacteria too. I would try to prevent any fallout in the form of yeast infections and diarrhea. Lots of probiotics!
I don't have any recommendations for pneumonia, that's one we haven't dealt with. Good luck mama!

Oh man, this stinks. Poor little M. Hopefully the antibiotic will help her out and she'll feel better soon! Now we know why she was coughing so much.

@MamaG: @looch: thanks for the heads up! She had amox once before at the onslaught of this cold. I was terribly worried about a reaction but thankfully she did fine.

Oh no, poor baby
I'm with Looch on watching for any red spot/rashes. C was on amox for ear infections, I'm sure he's had it at the very least six times and is now allergic to it. The time he had a reaction was when he had pneumonia.
The only thing I can do is second the others, humidifier, hot steam shower, rubbing/massaging, and probiotics!
