We're not finding out the sex so the argument may be moot, but I'm due in 7 weeks and my husband and I can't come to an agreement on circumcision.

He is strongly for, and I am strongly against.

His reasons:

1. He is circumcised and is very glad that he is.
2. He doesn't want a son whose penis looks different from his.
3. He doesn't want a son who gets teased in school for looking different.

My reasons:

1. In a country with good healthcare and sexual education, the health risks are negligible.
2. I hate the idea of modifying our baby's body and putting him through pain when he has no say in it.
3. The tradition was started in the U.S. By Victorian doctors to prevent masturbation.
4. Getting teased at school won't happen because circumcision is much less common now than it was when we were in school. And do school-aged boys really spend THAT much time scoping out each other's junk in the locker room?
5. When he asks why he doesn't look like daddy, we can explain that when daddy was a baby, it was common, but now it's not.

We can't come to an agreement, and it's becoming a problem.

Did anyone else disagree with their SO on circumcision? How did you decide what to do?
