I just had to share, because I'm still marveling at how awesome and progressive it is, given the crappy leave policies most US companies seem to offer!

My husband is a partner at a small company (no longer a "start up" because they've been around a while now, but similar environment), and just yesterday they rolled out a paternity leave policy! And it's better than what I'll even get for maternity leave from my company, which is kind of crazy. He will get 4 weeks at 50% pay, and up to 10 weeks off total, which, considering he doesn't get paid vacation days, is pretty huge. I'm not sure he'll take the whole 10 weeks off, and might work part time in his home office, but it's definitely a nice option for us to consider when the time comes!

I'm so proud of my husband's company, and him, because he helped push out the new policy, along with another partner who is going to be a first time dad in July. I just wish (as I'm sure we all do) that American companies could all be so supportive of new parents. And not just for maternity leave, paternity leave is important too, and so often gets overlooked!
