Is it too hard? Could you put a blanket under the sheet?

Try stuffing the sheet down your shirt for a little while before you put it in the crib and put her to sleep. Your scent may give her comfort.

Do you have a lovey or something? Or like @mamamoose said, something that smells familiar.
We're leaving for France on Monday, I hope we won't face the same challenge! Good luck, I hope baby falls asleep soon!!!

I always try to find a quieter dark corner for the pack n play and will put a blanket over any sides that open up to the room to make it feel safer...

How old is your LO? Will they cosleep in your bed? I have had to do that, though I never sleep as well. Agree with making the sheet smell like you. Did you bring a lovey or anything from home?

Thanks ladies, will try these. We did bring a lovey. If all else fails we may try cosleeping.
@Foodnerd81: just under six months.

@MrsH: Yeah that young, before she was mobile, I would have brought her into our bed. I hope something works out!

@MrsH: I never slept deeply enough while cobedding to really have any fears about squashing her. I was just way too aware of her to fall into a very deep sleep. I was more concerned about pillows or blankets, but by 6 months I felt a little more OK. Not sure how your LO would be, but C always had to be snuggled RIGHT up to me, so I'd scoot back for a little space and she would scoot right back up to me. Not terribly restful for me, but more restful than listening to her scream or bouncing/rocking/shushing for hours.

How old is she? If our LO can see us in the room he won't fall asleep either

Oh yeah it is hard at that age. We just had the same issue but because he is 1 1/2 we were able to put pillows in the crib to make it softer. At that age, we just brought him in bed with us. No other real suggestions but sorry you are dealing with it. Makes traveling hard.

@MrsH: if you are in a king sized bed, you will have a decent amount of room. I take a pillow and wedge it between the headboard and bed to make a bumper, just push it in really well so it doesn't flop over. Then take a blanket and roll it up partway, you lay on the blanket, the roll is the bumper between you and the baby.
My son adores cosleeping, so, he had no objections!

I'd cosleep too. If possible move bed next to wall so he doesn't roll off. Then put him next to wall while you sleep on other edge. If not I would put mattress on floor to prevent him from rolling off
