Our DD is the same! She was always content sleeping on her back but just recently she has converted to a belly sleeper. Me and hubby are both belly sleepers so we can't really blame her!

my LO is trying but gets stuck on her side. my ped said that once she can get herself to her belly, I can leave her like that.

I'll probably be nervous too, though, because when she gets sleepy on her belly she face plants and won't turn her face to the side!

As soon as she was done with swaddling at 5.5 months, she became a belly/side sleeper. She was a solid belly sleeper for a good 2 months and has recently become a side sleeper. Once she could get there on her own I just left her.

When my son settles himself to sleep, he often ends up on his belly, and often sleeps longer than when I put him in the crib totally konked out on his back. Like some others, he kind of gradually started sleeping on his side more, then belly more. The first few times he slept on his belly he kind of face planted and made me nervous, but after a bit, he's really good at turning his head completely to one side or the other.

I asked our ped about this last week, and he said it's ok, just always put them down on their back, and let them settle themselves how they want to. He also said at 6 months, which I think your LO is too, the risk of sids is extremely small.

If she keeps doing it and she's sleeping this way, I think it's ok. You can always get the Angelcare Baby Monitor where it tracks the movement of your baby's breathing and alerts you if there hasn't been any movement. They have it on No Better Deal for about $50.

As soon as she learned to roll, she started sleeping on her belly. I figure if thats how she wants to sleep, then fine. At this point, she's strong and mobile enough to move if theres an issue.
