It amazes me how much my LO can pick up and retain (15 months). My BFF, her husband, and my godson stayed with us from Fri-Mon. My BFF's son is 2 and the two kids were monkey-see, monkey-do the entire time.
This is what she learned over the 4-day stay:
--all done (I had been saying all done at the end of meals for a while and she would repeat after me but never say it when she was done. Because the 2-year-old said this constantly with his meals, my LO now does it. She told her nanny this morning that she was "all done" with breakfast."
--up
--No (She already knew how to say no, but only said it back to us when we told her to stop something, but she learned from the 2-year-old how to say no to things she doesn't want and especially No during a tantrum!
--Mommy (my favorite! 2-year-old calls his mom, mommy. She was always saying Daddy, but not mama or mommy)
And she knows how to say agua "awaa." She also understands what "leche" is. This weekend inspired my DH to speak Spanish to LO, finally.
Is your LO around older children? Do they learn things from them?
We struggle somewhat getting time with other children where we live. Most of the families are really insular and not interested in socializing with us because we're "new" (or some other reason, not really sure) and so there aren't as many opportunities to do things with other kids. We've kept Ellie in school because of the social aspect, honestly, but I think Lorelei would enjoy being around other/more kids. When Ellie's friend Katie comes over Lorelei is just beside herself. Wants to hold her hand, play with her... and Katie is an only child and so she really likes to pretend Lorelei is her sister I think. Does make me sometimes wish that we didn't lie in the boonies.
great post! Congrats!
