Maybe a gift card to a local restaurant that's kinda nice. I almost wrote a bottle of wine...but that implies that you think she will (or does) drink. Not that there anything wrong with that, but the 21st birthday is already alcohol-centric enough. That way with a gift card, she can do whatever she wants.

I vote gift card! Inside a handwritten card by LO (not sure how old) or if she's really small, trace her hand shape in the card and "sign" her name?

Thanks everyone. I went with a gift card to a restaurant that has fantastic cocktails. She is a college student so I don't think she gets to go out for nice dinners too often. I also found a hilarious musical animated card which will probably make her chuckle.

@ElbieKay: This is random, but I didn't know you have a college student baby sitter. How did you find her?
I'm still trying to find good options for after school care next year for LO1 that don't involve me doing 2 separate pickups, so someone picking her up and giving snack and playing with her for a couple of hours each day is ideal.

@Anagram: I posted our job on sittercity.com and care.com, and our sitter happened to apply. The ad included the hours and some other terms. I did not specifically plan to hire a college student, but she seemed pretty on point and responsible. T had already turned two and was pretty verbal, so I figured someone young and energetic would be a good choice especially since we were only looking for three afternoons per week.
