I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't be fine, but is it okay for me to put DD down for a nap in her car seat? Like without leaving the house, just in the living room. She never takes good naps unless she has the confinement of the swing or her car seat. Anyone else with me?

I have this problem too with my difficult napper, but unfortunately there is a pretty solid reason that it isn't fine - when you have baby napping in the car seat outside of the vehicle, it holds baby's head at an angle where it can potentially fall downward and constrict their airway. Babies have died from this - I suggest googling it.
The swing is okay though.

I've heard what @wonderstruck has, that it's a no no. I never put ds intentionally down for a nap in his car seat but there were many times he fell asleep in it in the car and we brought the seat in the house so he could continue to sleep. I think if you're going to be paying close attention to him it might be ok, but it sounds like you can just use the swing??

I wouldn't for the reason listed above. If the car seat is not in the base, the angle can lead to airway issues.

Eh, I was a total paranoid ftm for the reasons listed above and then my doctor told me I should try it for LOs reflux. She said just adjust the baby's head if it fell down and chin was curled to the chest. I never had to adjust because our car seat reclined enough that LO was in the same position as out rock in play.

DS napped exclusively in the swing for the first 5 months of his life. No issues and he's always been a good sleeper overall. Survival!

I've always wondered if having a car seat base in the house, or propping up one end of the car seat to change their head angle, would make it safe to leave LO in it when he falls asleep in the car and I don't want to disturb his nap.

@marionberry: @QBbride: @Anagram: @mrsjyw: @wonderstruck: Okay so I'm wondering about putting our extra base in the living room or putting the stroller in the living room. That way the car seat would be in its natural position. The idea behind using the car seat instead of the swing would be for me to be able to take a nap too. I use a Snuza movement monitor and it doesn't work with the swing. And I don't like sleeping if she isn't wearing it. I suppose I could just turn the swing off. Its funny how desperate sleep depravation will make you.

@MrsHansen82: let us know what the per says! Because if that's safe to do it would make nap time so much easier here! Usually my little guy is fine with the swing but when we're visiting family things get tricky!
