Ok so, on the advice of a friend, I decided to start having my LO (5 weeks) follow the NAPS plan. It isn't sleep training, it's just a way to make sure your kid doesn't get overtired. Essentially they need to be soothed and have a nap after 90 minutes of being awake. The book says that doing this during the day means better sleep at night.

My question is, does your baby stay up at night for 90 minutes?? Mine sure does. And it's AWFUL. She wakes, I start the 90 minute timer, I feed her, and we still have usually 45 minutes to an hour left. She is very much AWAKE. And fussy because she's always fussy when she's awake (that's a whole nuther post). And I am exhausted. And then when I finally get her back to sleep, she sleeps an hour and a half and we start it all over again. This morning for example:

Awake at 2:30. Finished feeding by 3. Basically waited around until 3:45 (and she's still VERY awake at that time), swaddled and shushed and swung while she cried and spit out the pacifier... till 4:15 when she finally went to sleep. Put her down, she's awake and hungry 45 minutes later. (I mean, she had last eaten over 2 hours ago at that point so I can see why.)

Granted this is only the 2nd day/night we've done the NAPS thing, so I'm sure it gets better. But should I be trying to make her sleep right away after eating at night? She is very much awake and crabby as hell so I don't really see it happening. She is formula fed btw..
