I've decided to get books for my nieces and nephew for Christmas this year... but no idea what to get. My nieces are 5 and 6, and my nephew is almost 7. Any suggestions on books or authors?

I've started taking T to the library and getting a few books for bedtime stories for the week. Of course at 9.5 months he barely has any interest, but I found a couple of ones I just loved.

DH and I were cracking up when reading it. It was adorable and the illustrations are definitely eye catching.We get a lot of books by Helen Lester because they are enjoyable for parents to read. I'm really reading to T for myself (of course there are benefits for him but he isn't interested right now) and I enjoy these. I think kids would like the silly stories

Some of my (and my 2nd graders) favourite books:
-any and all Mo Willems (elephant and Piggie, pigeon series, that is not a good idea, knufflebunny,goldilocks and the 3 dinosaurs)
-Press Here (they go bananas for this book!)
-This is not my hat & I want my hat back (huge hits ! Hilarious !)
-The Day the Crayons Quit
-Chester
-interrupting chicken
-creepy carrots
-the book with no words
-the gruffalo
I love a good read aloud !

Are they into chapter books yet? If so I suggest The Little Princess and The Boxcar children series.
Otherwise we love- and older kids do too- the Charlie and Lola series by Lauren Child.

@Mrs. Pen: I think I'll be getting chapter books for my nephew and oldest niece - I will definitely look into those suggestions.
