We were planning on upgrading next year or so but my car was totaled last week. Any recommendations for a SUV? Preferably 7-8 seats. We looked at the Ford Explorer and liked the size of that one. Does anyone know something comparable to that? Thank you!!!

I agree! Honda Pilot! The 2016 has a captains chair feature for easier access to third row.
Or: my friend has the Yukon SUV, it's a beast but she has 3 boys and needs the space.

We really like our Toyota Highlander. It has captains chairs in the middle row and three seats in the back. We've had adults sit in the back, and it wasn't bad.

We love the 2016 Pilot. It's one of very few SUVs that has three full latch sets in the middle row. So you can put two kids next to each other both secured with latch and have one of the outside seats open instead of having the middle seat open which is basically useless.

I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee and love it - but they dont make a third row vehicle yet. The closest Chrysler product is a Durango - which will likely be my next car. They have severely improved the fuel economy of the Durango - otherwise I would not consider it.
I also plan to look at the Honda Pilot - although they dont lease out anywhere near as well as the Chrysler products - and this will be a lease vehicle as I only want/need the third row while DD2 is a wee one.
Depending on your price point...I have friends that LOVE the Q7, XC90 (absolutely gorgeous) and Infinity Qx7 (I think thats the model). Those are a bit more luxury - and for me I just dont value my car enough to spend the money on those.
The Acadia is another great third row option but you want to make sure you get it soon because the new ones (2017 I believe) they are going to be making 7" shorter and 3" skinnier...more comparable to the Grand Cherokee - not sure if they will still have a third row.
My sister has an explorer and loves it - but she doesnt pay for it (corporate car) so her opinion is slightly skewed!

We looked at the Pilot and the MDX. We went with the MDX, mostly cause I liked the look better. But we LOVE it!

I'm loving my Acadia Denali. Its quite a bit bigger than my Grand Cherokee I had before and that took some getting used to. But it drives sooo smoothly and I love the combo of bucket seats (or captains chairs) plus the third row.

we got a 2016 honda pilot and love it! the 3rd row is roomy and easy to get into. the only downside for us was that in order to get into the 3rd row, two carseats have to be right next to each other, otherwise the 2nd row seat won't move forward. we have the ex-l so it has the pushbutton to access the 3rd row so that might be part of the issue. it actually is good though bc someone can also sit comfortably in the 2nd row without squishing between two car seats.

We rented a Highlander and it drove great but wow that 3rd row is cramped for adults! And when the 3rd row is up there is no trunk space. We bought a pie at Costco and it wouldn't fit in the trunk so someone had to carry it on their lap. It's why we went with the Sienna minivan instead.

Thanks everyone for all the input. We are going with the explorer. And thank you for mentioning the airbag belts. Or whatever thy call them. Luckily I had to replace my car seats as well so I'm getting ones that work with those!! Thanks
