We are buying a new bed (along with other furniture) for DS's room in anticipation of a new baby joining the family in the fall (the old mismatched stuff will be moved to the nursery including his twin bed). DS turns 4 next month so we're not really in the sleepover phase yet and don't expect to be any time particularly soon. However, I want to pick furniture that will grow up with him. For those that have recently purchased bedroom furniture, did you opt for a bed with a trundle for purposes of future sleepovers? Or did you just buy a larger bed that kids could share? Or do you plan on having a blow up bed for when friends come sleep over? I feel like it is silly to be narrowing my search based on whether a bed has a trundle but I really don't want to have to buy furniture again for a long time. Just curious what others have done.
ETA: We have a guest room already and an office with a daybed so there are plenty of other sleeping spaces in the house.
