My inner monologue while running is all over the place.
At the gym, though? Pretty consistent. I have no interest in mingling there, so:
"Don't make eye contact, don't make eye contact. Crap, accidentally made eye contact in mirror. Smile, but look distracted."

@lizzywiz: I have no interest in mingling at the gym either - I go work out and rush home (my kids stay up waiting for me to say goodnight and I don't want them up too much past bedtime)
although I do look at all the skinny girls and tell myself "they have never been pregnant" -it makes me feel better

Love it! "What time is it?" • "When was the last time I worked out?" • "I should have brought my headphones!"

My mind wanders a lot in my spinning class. Some regular thoughts:
"How is the instructor so peppy? How does she manage to not be out of breath?!"
"This is good. I'm on the beat! I'm in the zone!" which soon transforms to "Omg, this song is getting faster! How are people going up and down with the beat? My mind and body won't cooperate!"
And when I start checking out the other people in the class: "Wow, that girl is really toned, I wonder what other kind of exercising she does?"
@lizzywiz: bahaha I'm always trying to avoid awkward eye contact in the mirror, too.

When I am running on the treadmill, I always look at the "calories burned" area and think to myself "that cheesecake or burger was not worth it!" LOL
