How many days old was your newborn when you did a newborn shoot? And what did you wear??
I was thinking we'd do a shoot about 10 days post-delivery, but my photographer would like to do it earlier... which is fine, but I have no idea what to wear.

We are doing ours at 17 days. Some will be outside for that I'm wearing a full pink tulle skirt with chamboray and cowboy boots. For inside a tunic length white button up and leggings. I also have a pink top that is full and pleated. M is wearing a grey sweater for inside and probably a plaid button up for outside. The babe has a grey and cream sweater one piece and swaddles.

We did ours at a month old, we didn't want to expose her to any germs that we didn't have to before then. I wore a long sleeved white shirt and jeans, and DH wore a long sleeved button down white shirt and jeans. Nothing fancy.

We did our shoot at 13 days old. I wore dark jeans and a black tanktop.

For my son, did it at 10 days old and I wore maternity jeans and a white tank. For my daughter, we did it at 6 days old and I wore a blue maternity top (didn't look obvious maternity but it was the only thing that looked flattering on me) and maternity jeans.
Just keep in mind you belly may still look pregnant and a good photog should know how to pose you to make you look good and not still pregnant. It's so tough finding something to wear tho!! Especially since it's hard to know exactly how your body will look postpartum.

We're planning to wait until 4-5 weeks old since I prefer the open-eyed baby being held by the parents, instead of the naked sleeping curled-up baby propped by itself photos. I am hoping by then I will be able to fit into a lot of my old wardrobe so choosing clothing won't be so difficult.

@ktdid23: I wore skinny leg maternity jeans and a 3/4 sleeve length white shirt. The short is from Ingrid & Isabelle, and has all these folds almost like ruching. It was marketed as "before, during, and after". So, it camouflaged my baby gut, but didn't scream MATERNITY!
We did pictures at 7 days old.

We did DS's about a week and a half after he was born. He was itty bitty and with extra dr appts after birth, that was the earliest we got in. The shoot was all DS, no me and DH so we just wore comfy clothes.

We did ours at 13 days old (was supposed to be a week out, but I got mastitis the day before the original date so we had to reschedule). I wore a navy Gap maternity maxi dress and my husband wore jeans and a white/blue windowpane button-down shirt.

I think LO was 7-8 days old. I wore a navy maternity dress. The only issue was that it wasn't really nursing friendly, so I had to take it off to nurse...which I guess was a good thing because she was naked (just wrapped in a swadde) and pooped all over me! Yuck!

Dark leggings and a white gap pure body maternity shirt, which he proceeded to poop all down the front of. Thank goodness for photoshop

We are having hospital pictures: I plan on waring yoga pants/tank/coverup. DH will be in a solid colored t-shirt, DD will be in a big sister shirt.
Newborn pictures at our house will be at 7 days old. I plan on wearing a striped gray/white shirt with black pants, DH will be wearing a long sleeve zip up, DD will be in a solid colored whit shirt with black leggings, DD2 will be in a floral dress. Both will be wearing "hippy" headbands.

@Mamaof2: Our daughter's newborn photographer asked us to wear black shirts, as well. The photog we are using for my son's newborn shoot (we moved to a different state, otherwise we'd use the same photographer!) has a different style so I'm at a loss on what to wear...

@ktdid23: They only had 2 sizes when I ordered! I loved it so much I went back to order black, but it was sold out! Seems odd, it's such a great shirt.

I wore a gap maternity wrap dress in pink and purple to the first session and for the twins I intend to wear a cream lace shirt or a peach one with jeans. This photographer recommends wearing neutral tones.

We did ours at 7 days old. The only part of me you can see in the pictures is my arms so I was in a black shirt and pj pants.
It was a friend who took them and she had to do some serious photoshopping of the bruises on my arms from the IV.
