I hear you!! Everyone told me not to bother with NB sizes, but I'm glad I didn't listen. I ended up sending my MIL out to shop for NB size onesies and PREEMIE size pants because I didn't like dressing him in loose clothes. He wore NB sizes until just before hitting 3 months... then he moved up to 3 month until just before 6 months.. etc. The only time he kind of jumped sizes before he actually turned that age was 18 months. He's always been above average in weight, but average or below average in height and he's very solidly built so he fits well into the age appropriate sizes.

LO was huge at 10lbs 8oz and even she wore newborn for 3 weeks. We're at the point now where 0-3 is getting too short but the 3-6 stuff is massively baggy because she's tall and skinny. It's so frustrating! I totally feel your pain.

@bpcmarj: LO is 13lbs but she's also nearly 25 inches long. Her dot on the height scale is like an inch above the curve! Lol. Baby clothes do not fit her right... I find Carter's and Gymboree fit the best though, especially the legging style pants because they're longer and tighter.

I had almost no newborn clothes either. I ended up doing an emergency run to Babies R Us for a few NB outfits to dress LO in until she fit into the 3 month clothes. In the end, I had her in 3 month clothes by the time she was 4 weeks old. They were still pretty loose, but they weren't falling off of her anymore.

@Coco Bee: exactly!! She takes after her mom, for sure!

It was at least a few weeks, DD was born at 8 lbs 5 oz. I really don't know why people say not to buy any NB clothes. I didn't have any, but luckily my SIL gave me some hand me downs. Some people must have 10 lb babies if they don't need NB sizes. Either that or they don't mind their babies wearing clothes that are way too big, but that really bugged me.

Yeah I feel like the brands are so different in their sizing! LO was small an he will fit into NB sizes for awhile and doesn't even fit into some of his nb outfits yet. People gave us so much summer 3-6 stuff and I feel sick about it that he may never wear them....At 4w he is probably about 7 lbs.

LO never really fit his NB clothes--I think mostly because he was so LONG, not so heavy. He was 21 inches, and 8lb 2oz. The newborn clothes might almost fit with disposable diapers, but with the cloth/hybrid, then they don't fit at all.

BUT, some of his 0-3 are too small, too, and 2 of his NB fit great--sizes are inconsistent.

That doesn't sound right to me?? LO was born at 7lbs 8oz and she only wore NB for like 1-2 weeks?

@regberadaisy: that is weird. Did you have all one brand? Carters runs significantly smaller, BRU does too. Those brands he was out of around 6 weeks. But old navy, gap, target- he was in til nearly three months.

@regberadaisy: yeah that is long. Cobi was 19.5" at birth and at 3.5 mos he is 23.75", funny thing is neither DH or I are short at all. I think it may be just because he was a little early.
