We have had a couple of those from my 2 month old- only just recently in the last couple weeks. But yes, so much that she was soaked front and back. Our toddler had just had a stomach bug the first time it happened and I freaked out but it seems to just be random huge spit ups. She's don't it two or three times now and always seems perfectly fine after.

If he's getting puke on the floor from his rnp that's projectile vomit and not just spit up. I would call the doctor. It could be an allergy or it could be something else. My children both had a lot of food allergy issues. With my older one eliminating dairy, soy, wheat, eggs, fish, and nuts from my diet did the trick. With my 3 month old I've eliminated all those things and we are still having very mucusy poop so we are heading to GI next week. If I were in your shoes I would probably switch to neocate (or Nutramigen or Alimentum) and see how he does since it's easy enough to do.

It's probably worth mentioning to a doctor, but I wouldn't jump to any conclusions about allergies/reflex/etc. My DD projectile "vomited" quite a lot as an newborn (probably for 1-2 months?) and she didn't have allergies or anything else. My doctor wasn't super concerned because she was a "happy spitter". I think it had to do with my milk coming out so fast and her tummy not being able to handle it... but who knows.

@ladybee: According to my pedi, all babies have reflux to some degree because their lower esophageal sphincter is immature. It's usually when it causes pain or they're not gaining weight that it becomes a problem. I don't think reflux in itself always points to MSPI although it can be a sign. DD is 2 months old and has reflux, but she also has mucus in her stools and that's when we had to switch her to a hypoallergenic formula. What symptoms did DS 1 have that led to an MSPI diagnosis?
