Newly Formed Disney Addiction!

I never liked Disney as a kid. I went once as a babe and once as a young teen and it was not fun. I would go so far to say I was anti-Disney up until LO was 1 year and slowly I evolved in a full blown fan. Like I get an insatiable itch that must be scratched by booking another trip! I rarely spend money on Disney products but I will definitely spend free time reading, planning and booking Disney vacations and visiting the Disney property-Aulani- near our house.

Anyone else a late bloomer with Disney? Feel free to write anything about Disney, the land, the world and I will read it with complete enthusiasm....I even watched the 4 hour PBS Documentary about Walt Disney last month! Can't believe how much I changed from a nay to a yay.

I have always loved the movies, but my parents never took us as kids. My husband took me to Disneyland for my birthday when we first started dating, and I loved it. We just got back from a Disneyworld trip with the kiddos (2 and 4) and had SO MUCH FUN! Can't say I'd want to go during the busy season, but we had a great time!

I've always been a fan! DH, on the other hand, worked at his uncle's baseball camp in FL every summer as a teen, and they took the kids. So he went, herding a bunch of boys, multiple times per summer for years. He basically hated it. But now he's said multiple times how excited he is to take LO on a Disney cruise and to WDW in a couple years. He's totally changed his tune.

@lemondrop: I never want to go in the busy season as well! We just got back from Disney World a few months ago and that is when I started admitting I have a Disney addiction!
@Torchwood: so has your DH gone again after he took the boys? Is that what made him change his tune? Before I left to go on my first trip with LO, I thought I would NEVER want to go to Disney again. I thought one and done. I also thought Disney vacations are for people who don't like to plan vacations but I was so wrong!! There are lots of fun options and customizations to make.

I've never been to any of the parks but I loved the movies growing up. I was anti-Disney until I had LO. I'm still not terribly excited to go but the thought of seeing her so happy does make me excited. We're going on a Disney cruise this year which I think will be a good intro to Disney. She'll get to see all the characters and we'll get to go to some awesome beaches.

@808love: We went once while I was pregnant last time, but I think what changed his mind was seeing pictures of our niece (then 4) having a blast going. It helped him imagine what it would be like with our LO.

@lawbee11: I was not excited to go the first time with LO. I thought I'll just have fun with LO this once and then check it off my list but it was so much fun! We went during a non-busy time, planned everything out, got to see everything we wanted and I had really LOW expectations. The second time, more of the same but added a special Disney party, Disney date night and brought along my mom aka the nanny. Plus we stayed at a Disney Resort. The third year, we went to DW and I just didn't get it all down like I had it at Disneyland so I want to go again (year 4) to 'master' the place and see the stuff I had missed, including winter decor. And of course --experience LO and DH having an awesome unforgettable 'magical' time. @Torchwood: Yes!! I'm sure it will be so fun for your whole family to go one day together!! Erasing all the bball memories!

@808love: yup..we went to Disney all the time when I lived in California that I was over it by my tween year. Even in high school our grad night was at Disneyland I went but became anti disney. When my nephew was born it was like a whole new world and soon became obsessed. We go to Disneyland everytime we go visit my family and go to the Aulani ALL. THE. TIME. It is even more fun with my 2 yr old.

I looooveee Disney world! i grew up driving down (33 hours in a minivan with my parents, grandmother and 3 sisters!!) most March breaks. My best childhood memories are from there.

I am taking Dd in a month for her first time and I am SO EXCITED. It makes me teary thinking about it!

@Charm54: 33 hours!! Wow! That's hard core! @BabyMats: We still visit Aulani often but the last time I actually stayed there was when she was under a year old. Will want to do another stay in this or next year's off season. I hope LO doesn't become anti-Disney for awhile. I have a few more years left on me and then I'll wait for round 2 when grandkids come. Hehe...I'm already planning that too!

I'm a huge fan and always have been. When I was a kid, we went almost every year, starting from my first birthday! I haven't been very often at all since high school, but we took LO on a Disney Cruise last year and I got sucked in again. This spring, we are taking LO to Disney World for the first time and I can't wait. We will be staying at the Polynesian, which is super exciting to me because although my parents were super fans, our family never actually stayed on-site.

DH is more of a "late bloomer". He only went once as a kid and was almost anti-Disney when we were younger. He was really impressed by the cruise we took though, and it didn't take much to convince him to do the trip this year. Our LO loves a bunch of Disney characters so I think that won him over.

I am super jealous that you live near Aulani. That is like my dream vacation right there.

@catlady: "I got sucked in again" YES! That's what it feels like...out of my conscious decision making and in auto-pilot. Something deep down NEEDS Disney. Haha! I hope I'm just joking. But seriously I come home saying ok, I'm fine. I don't have to do this again. Then I start missing it, flashbacks etc. Each time I return, I start planning (buying/booking) even earlier than the time before. This year we have 2 Disney trips (Tokyo/Orlando) and I'm thinking that I should be good after that...right??

As a family, we didn't stay on site the first time to DL and the first time to DW but the second time we did/are. We didn't feel like we missed out on anything staying off site but it definitely gives us something NEW and EXCITING to look forward to now that we can stay on site. I just don't understand how the more I do it, the more I want it!

There is a free Disney Gif App that you can send little Disney clips as emoji. Like if you are happy, you can send a second of Cinderella twirling in her magical dress. Play with it...it's super fun!

I think I'm getting there but only because we are in FL. DH and I went to Epcot for our honeymoon so we were kinda into it before kids. He loves all the movies and now appreciates (but not addicted) to the parks

I loved the movies growing up by I mostly just saw them in the theater, there wasn't the crazy merch there is now. We went to WDW when I was 6 and it was great. I didn't go back until I was 18.
J likes Cars and the Pixar movies but he's not bonkers for them.
