Lorelei. I love love the name but I hate all the nicknames that go with it... Lori, laura/Lauren, laurel... Would a child be destined to be nicknamed by other people?
Anyone know of any other nicknames for Lorelei?

Maybe Lola? I think that is Mrs. Twine's younger daughters name, I would ask her!

If we had a lorelei, I *know* my ILs would nickname her Ly-Ly. I would find that super annoying. Personally I think Lorelei just rolls off the tongue and doesn't need a nickname.

Lilly
What a sweet name. I think the suggested nicknames above are great, too!!!

@photojane: I immediately thought Rory too, even though I never watched Gilmore Girls.
I could also see Lo or Lola. I can see wanting a nickname for it, it is a little long, though I don't think it's a name that NEEDS a nickname.

I would nickname Lorelei "Lor" probably, I like one syllable nicknames!

Rory and Lola would be my favorites. But I agree that it doesn't NEED a nn. C has a name with tons of nns and we still call her by her full name. Every once in a while, my mom calls her Charlie, but that's it.

Obviously I like the name She hasn't been nicknamed at all by other people up to this point, and she is 15 months! We call her Lo-co, Low-lie, Lorelita, Lolita, Lowly, Laura-Cora... but everyone else calls her Lorelei.

"Lor"! Or Rory because of GG
@kjpugs: I immediately thought of "Lor" too! I tend to do nicknames off the first part of the name (like Lori I nn "Lor"...Not that that name needs a nn, but somehow I always end up calling Lori's that).

That's one of the names that's pretty high up on our list, and we'd use Rory as a nickname! I agree with others, though, that it's definitely a name that doesn't need a nickname - it just flows nicely!

@anbanan15: SAME! I remember I used to (when I was little) call my mom's best friend Helen "Hell" by accident all the time!!! Just force of habit!

I love this name! I would be tempted to use Rori as the nickname but I know my husband would vito it because of Gilmore girls

My first thought was Rory too because of Gilmore Girls. DH and I just discussed using Lorelei for a girl's name!
