We are on the second night of sleep training our 9.5 month old, who has never fallen asleep on his own in his crib, wakes up about four times a night and has been cosleeping with us (not by choice!) for the second half of the night for the past three months. We are using a combo plan that we came up with with our Isis consult last week. It's like a timed interval cry it out, except instead if checking on him we pick him up and soothe him until calm. It doesn't feel as harsh and our LO didn't do well with straight CIO. So last night we did one minute increments. Cried for a minute, then we picked him up and rocked. Then 2 minutes & then rock etc. He got to 10 minutes (altogether it took 1.5 hours to get him down). And then......he slept through the night. He hasn't done that since he was tiny.
So tonight I didn't know what to expect. We increased increments by 2 minutes. He fell asleep after a total of 25 minutes. We'll see if he stays, but for now it seems to working. I can't believe it! I want to cry tears of joy!! Does this sound similar to your own sleep training experience? Will it get worse before it continues to get better?
