I was originally just going to message @photojane: this question since I'd been discussing it with her, but realized there has been quite some interest in photography and lens questions on the boards, so maybe someone else would benefit from this question and/or can answer too!

This might be a totally stupid question (hey, I'm no pro!), but I bought this awesome lens that was recommended and quite a few of you bees have expressed loving it.

I got it and I definitely love what I've seen/taken so far! But, I am wondering if there is no zoom for it? Like, do you have to physically move yourself to get further back and closer? Or is it because I have an old model of the Nikon (D3000) and maybe it only can zoom on the newer models? My model wasn't one of the ones in the drop-down list of compatible cameras.

Also, if you have the lens, do you twist the manual focus ring? I'm not confident in my ability to really focus well yet, so I've mainly been using the Auto, but I do love the Aperture setting too.

* Overall, I LOVE the color/lighting already, because none of the rooms in our house get direct sunlight and this lens has already brightened up all my pictures! (i.e. my totally amateur pics)
