I'd put something like "The only present you need to bring is you presence!" Or another cute way of saying "no gifts necessary".

I'd either say the "no gifts" thing or I'd frame the party in a non-birthday way. For my kiddos' 2nd birthday, we had people over but it was for drinks, food, and beer, according to my oh-so-eloquent Evite.

We specifically said no gifts at my daughter's first birthday and people obliged, thank goodness. A few people brought her cards and someone brought a balloon (which was actually awesome), because she didn't feel right showing up empty-handed.

At the bottom of the invite I just said, "Please RSVP - no gifts, pretty please!" But I do love the "no presents, just your presence" line; I"ll probably use something similar next time since we're again asking for no presents for her second birthday!

I've had friends put it on the invitation and ask for donations to a local charity... but we all end up bringing a gift. Don't ask me why. But we do

I agree to put something, whatever cute line you like. I would feel like I shound bring something unless it was stated (and then I'd bring a bottle of wine for you instead. :))

We did the no gift thing, and asked that if people wanted to bring something they could bring food bank donations. It seemed to be pretty well received.
