I'm interested how many other countries are represented on the boards... I tend to assume everyone is either based in the US or Canada until they mention something specific or use a different currency in posts, that makes me think otherwise.

I'm American (technically Japanese American) but we're currently living in Beijing. We've been expats for the last seven and a half years...2 years in Bangkok, 5 years in Tokyo, and the past 6 months in Beijing.

@lil owl: hi! DH and I are visiting Germany for the first time in July, so excited!
@mynoahbear: what interesting experiences you must have had! I've been to Bangkok a number of times and is one place I could see myself living for a while. Do you have intentions to move to the US permanently at any point?

@illumina: eventually but as an expat, DH has a really good contract and package, which allows for a really good quality of life. So it's hard to imagine leaving all this at the moment. Obviously there are some drawbacks...currently, pollution is a major problem for us. I don't see us staying in Beijing for too long because of the pollution. I also think it's a great learning experience for LO. She's only 15 months old but her friends are from all over the world.

@lil owl: I have nothing to really contribute to the thread, but have friends overseas and I've only ever heard good things about Germany. It's one of my very top places to visit some day.

I'm English, living in the US. Hoping to move back to England before LO starts school. I love Germany. Fantasia land is awesome and can't wait to take my LO there.
I love the nightlife in Berlin.

I'm an American currently living in Australia - I've been an expat for most of the last 9 years though, living in London for three years and then all over Australia. London's still my favourite by far - we're hoping to move back there in the next year or two if the economy picks up a bit!

@illumina: all the time zones in the US confuse me! But this is how I remember it... our time is the exact opposite of New York so if its 9pm there its 9am here. We are 12 hours ahead....make sense...
hahaha and I post at random times and sometimes very late so that probably throws people off!! lol
