Looking for ideas for putting LO's name above her crib that's not a vinyl decal.
I kinda want to paint her name myself...but not sure how to go about it?
Any other ideas, inspirations or real pics?
Thanks!

They have wooden and paper mache letters at the craft stores so those could be a good option for painting them yourself. I have seen some cute ones, I will have to see if I can find links.

I ordered wooden name signs from ALittleMiscellany on Etsy. Here's a sample from her shop. I can take a pic of our signs tomorrow if you want, but it's dark in the nursery currently.

I got cardboard letters from the craft store and wrapped them in fabric scraps left over from other nursery projects.

@twodoghouse: I was just looking at something similar on Etsy! Did you hang it with a photo hook?

Mine's big (about 2 ft long) so we used big nails. The seller per drilled hole/slot things on the back that fit over the nail. I don't know the right terms, haha.

@twodoghouse: wow! OK! I would love to see it whenever you get a chance. I'm looking at another seller that laser cuts the name but it's unfinished. I have leftover nursery paint so we're fine to finish it ourselves. But it's only 1/4" thick so I wonder if it will look cheesy w/o much of a reveal. And it definitely won't get up to 2' long! Is your LO's name long?

I bought the large paper mâché letters from Michaels (the boxy ones) and covered them with pretty scrapbooking paper (used modge-podge) and then hung them with Command Strips. They have a nice 3-d effect, were super cheap to make, and I was able to pick the exact color scheme/pattern I wanted!

I painted letters over my son's crib, I basically printed out templates, cut them out and then freehanded.

Is your LOs name long? I was in an antique warehouse this weekend and they had all of these cool metal letters!

Just saw Land of Nod has them, more expensive, and matching, but pretty cool too:

@looch: doh. That's a great idea; I think I might do that!

@locavore_mama: if you go wood, depending on how heavy, the 3M photo strips are awesome! We have LO's name above her crib, six wooden letters from Jo-Anns. Each has 1 or 2 photo strips (the kind sorta like Velcro?). They haven't budged in over 2 years!

@locavore_mama: Their names are each five letters long! It's just big! I'm nursing downstairs now but will take a picture when I get a chance!!
ETA: found this one on my Facebook where you can see the signs in the background (and my cute family in the foreground):

We took small canvases with frames and wrapped them in fabric, and then glued wooden letters to them. I think we painted the letters too.

We just did an initial, not his whole name. Nails in a piece of wood, then yarn threaded around.
