You can smell the smoke from hours away. I can only imagine the people living it in. My heart goes out to everyone in the area.

Sadly the fires are still spreading. My FB feed is heartbreaking with lots of friends & family of friends that have lost their homes.
On the map the fire is one mile from my grandparents’ place that we recently sold. It’s also one block from a friend’s house in Glen Ellen which is way too close for comfort as she waits for word on her home.

I live in a valley and the smoke is horrible. I can only imagine those who are experiencing it first-hand. So scary.

We live near Davis and the air is crazy here. You could cut it with a knife.

@gingerbebe: I bet. This morning the air was so thick with smoke this morning on my commute I thought the sun was the moon. Perfect circle, no trouble looking at it. I did my whole commute looking straight at it before I realized it was the sun.

@Corduroy: Yeah the sun was like red orange all the way in. Creepy.

I guess cause I live on the bay, it's really interesting how it changes from minute to minute! Like we went to a play date this morning, and the air seemed fresh and fine. And I am pregnant so I have a sensitive sense of smell. And less than 3h later, horrible smoke and creepy red sun like you guys are talking about! Probably shouldn't have ridden my bike, at least it's only a 10 min ride.

While I grew up in Southern California (which has crazy fires of their own!) I no longer live there, but I did find out the summer camp I went to growing up by Santa Rosa burned down. It's just crazy to think about!
