LO is 3.5 months old and I finally had to break out the Nosefrida last week. I used some saline drops before using it and it was really effective, especially compared to the bulb aspirator.
BUT - LO hates it. She screams bloody murder and thrashes all around making it pretty difficult to use. She even ended up with a tiny nick on her nose and I felt terrible :o(
What is your method for using the Nosefrida when LO thrashes around?

my baby hates it, I have a method of trapping her legs and arms with one hand and then holding her head steady and snotsucking with the other hand. it istn easy and she screams bloody murder too. but I still do it so she can feel better

It's a two person operation, one holding head and arms, other administering the snotsucker. It's the same when we use the Windi too.

I use a bulb. Quickly...if they aren't crying you aren't doing it right

Okay... that makes me feel better. Everyone talks about how much they love the nosefrida, but I never seem to hear about how much the baby hates it - ha!

Mine screams too, but I try to do it right before I stick a boob in her mouth so that all is forgotten!

I work as a nurse on a pediatric floor and when we suction little noses, we swaddle the kiddos as best as we can to keep their arms tight and like everyone said, it usually takes 2!

I think every baby hates it! We just pin LO down!

DS hates it too. I hold him down. I feel so bad but it's worth it.

I made it into a game and would do silly stuff to make her laugh with it. That way, it creates a positive experience. She will still knock it away sometimes but, for the most part, she'll sit really still when I put it up to her nose. I always make sure to get really excited and tell her "good job!!!" when I finish and I don't force it if she's getting really upset.

@matador84: haha...I totally agree! I can only imagine how awful it feels to have someone suck snot out of my nose.
I know this sounds awful but I have to use my forearm to pin down my lo's arms. Sometimes DH helps to hold LO still. As soon as we are all done we scoop him up and snuggle him and he stops screaming.

We take her into the bathroom and run the shower. This way, the warm air helps clear her nose, the noise calms her down, and she relaxes a little. DH holds her while I use the 'frida on her. Also, we pause and let her suck her paci between every suck'fest. I'm open to swaddling her while we do it, but I don't want her to get too hot in the bathroom.

I use it every morning and night since its been so cold and dry baby's always congested. Repetition has made it easier and I'm glad so I can do it by myself and if he's ever sick it won't be a huge ordeal. So maybe try doing it for tiny bits of time more frequently? If I use saline I always have a tissue so it doesn't run down into his mouth too.

J hates the saline drops and thrashes around for that but strangely seems to like the frida. I'm going to try doing it with her swaddled, that's a good tip.

My LO is 8.5 months and hated the nose frida until 3 days ago. Now it doesn't bother her at all?!? I have no idea what changed...I guess she just got used to it and realized that it's actually helping her. Kinda how she got used to baths. Also, when I was by myself sometimes I swaddled her to pin her arms down
