@Banana330: Hah, hah, I'm imagining a viral youtube video that involves desperately trying to smash open the hpt lockbox at 9dpo

@Mrs. J: I hope ovulation comes soon - waiting for it drove me crazy this month. I'm actually relieved to be in the TWW - though we'll see how long that lasts.

I started reading The Impatient Woman's Guide to Getting Pregnant yesterday. It has a chart that gives what percentage of eggs are genetically normal by age (subject of course to some potential caveats about the selection of the sample) that I found pretty useful in helping me to relax and be less pessimistic. Of course, that could have just been the NBD phase talking. I'm hoping I'll get at least 48 hours of it before entering phase 2.

I either ovulated yesterday or today based on how it's been post LO. We weren't trying this month but had that one time goalie pull Saturday in the O-3 window. We will see if we actually go for it tonight! Af is due 11/11!

For anyone that is questioning when they should test, I found this. It's based on your cycle length and O day, so it tells you the earliest you SHOULD test

@periwinklebee: I've read that book. I thought it was good, but now that I'm past the 6 month mark, remembering what I read has been freaking me out. =/

@periwinklebee: What does it say about 36?...(or do I even want to know?)

  8. periwinklebee

    grapefruit / 4466 posts

@Banana330: Whoa, it's telling me that the earliest I should test is 8dpo (4 days before AF is expected). I'm going to try to resist that!

@Tionn3: Keeping my fingers crossed for this month.

@periwinklebee: I was getting 10 dpo... but I must have a longer LP than you?

  10. periwinklebee

    grapefruit / 4466 posts

@Banana330: Yeah, mine is usually 11 days. I think it may be predicting relative to when AF is supposed to show?

It says 27.4% of eggs are genetically normal at 36, which is not all that dramatically different than 34% which are normal at age 26. Things seem to really fall off a cliff between 40 and 45, when it drops from 17% to 2%. The data are taken from women who did IVF - this is how they could genetically test things - so it's a selected sample, but the book says the numbers are basically in line with studies about how long it typically takes to get pregnant.

Does anyone else get tender breasts during the middle of their luteal phase? I always thought it was a good sign, because it must mean that your progesterone is high and breast tissue is sensitive to progesterone, but now I don't know =/

I was feeling reasonably good about the predicted 30% odds of catching a good egg this month assuming everything else is ok - sure, it's less than a coin flip but not all that unlikely. And then after seeing those stats I went to 538 and saw that's about the same odds that Nate Silver's model is giving Trump of winning next week, with a 11% odds that he loses the popular vote but wins the electoral college and close to 20% he wins outright (No offense to anyone supporting Trump.) I think I need to ban myself from google for the next week and a half, for sure...

I was feeling really good about this cycle too. My DH said he was feeling optimistic about this one, but then I got my CD21 progesterone results. They show up as OK based on the lab ranges but dr. google tells me they are slightly too low and indicative of weak ovulation. I think it's actually made me feel worse than a BFN. Ugh.. damn you TTC!

  21. Banana330

    nectarine / 2317 posts

@jhd: waiting on a call back. It's just GP/Family doc so I'm not sure if they will interpret the results or just go off what the lab ranges are (which says it's ok but fertility stuff says it's low).

@Banana330: I was diagnosed with weak ovulation by the RE, and prescribed metformin. I haven't tried it for a full cycle yet. I hope you get some answers, and a way forward!

@banana330 I agree with @JHD step away from google. It makes things soo worrisome. I recently had some labs drawn twice because I counted wrong and went to early. I haven't even check back for my second round. From what I remember the numbers have a lot of lead way like 25 -230 or something like that.

I have felt a real peace this cycle about just letting things happen any which way. No OPKs and letting the mood strike us. So we will see how long that takes us. I use to really obsess over these things. Hopefully this peace will last and I can enjoy the holidays and my daughter. I find that previously my mind was always drawn back to TTC. So I am simply not pregnant until I miss my period is how I will try to live the rest of this year. 2017 may have a different story for me.

@banana330: Well, chart is not looking so great! Temps are dropping. And I've been spotting and having strong cramps for the past two days, and again today. I never experience spotting or cramps before AF, so I was surprised and thought it was a good sign, but BFN again today at 14DPO.

Due for AF today, but she hasn't showed yet. Will keep you posted!

@MzPumpkin: I love everything about this post. I just couldn't get into ttc this time around, so we keep putting it off. We had sex this cycle because we wanted to, not to make a baby. And when I looked at the calendar it happened to be square in fertile week 2-3 days before when I typically ovulate. It would be so awesome to have conceived from this one time, although I know with my fertility issues it isn't likely! But, all the same I'm taking the same approach through the holidays. Plus, we will have the In-laws over thanksgiving so not much BD then I don't think!

@periwinklebee: @dc yoga bee: @MzPumpkin: thanks ladies. Sometimes it's good to vent your frustrations even if you feel a bit crazy.

It's funny before this I was feeling positive and not too worked up about this cycle but it's really thrown me for a loop. We had recurrent losses before conceiving DD, and I've had strange cycles since removing my IUD, it just felt like it was time for a win. Only time will tell, but somedays it's just harder.

@Banana330: there is nothing wrong for feeling the way you feel, and your feelings aren't crazy! Sometimes we just have to take it one day at a time.

@banana330 of course it's normal to feel that way. It's serious business TTC, the emotions are waiting takes its toll on the women who don't get pregnant right away.
There is so much fear. When I'm feeling super terrible(which can be often, I struggle with anxiety attacks and PTSD) I treat
    Myself.
For whatever reason online shopping just helps, new shoes or pants especially going to get new makeup at benefit.

@dcyogabee Thank you! It feels really great to be at this place because it's been quite the two years since my
Daughter was born and I think I should just enjoy being in this moment.

This board is also just great getting to hear about all these ladies that are in the same boat more or less.
I have found that friends are really tricky in all this business. Not to mention somewhat selfish so I don't really talk about any of this stuff to any one. On another note my angel baby
Due date came and went and I am
Ok. It will all be good is my
    Mantra

@Banana330: I know that feeling as well - I'm sorry you're having to go through so much frustration This cycle isn't over for you yet, though, right? Fingers crossed for some good news for you.

I was feeling pretty unreasonably positive about this cycle as well, but I tested this morning at 9dpo and BFN. I know I shouldn't be totally discouraged, but I did get positives at 9dpo with my last 2 pregnancies, so it's hard not to feel like I'm out.

  33. Banana330

    nectarine / 2317 posts

@peachykeen: Thanks. Yes, I'm 9 dpo too! it is still really early to get a positive. BFN's are always hard when you're super positive about the cycle.

  34. periwinklebee

    grapefruit / 4466 posts

@peachykeen: I read in this new book I purchased recently (Impatient Woman's Guide to Getting Pregnant) that on average implantation happens at 9 dpo, which surprised me as I expected it to be earlier from hearing about all the early BFPs. It will take a day or two after that to get a positive test. Every cycle and pregnancy is different, BFNs suck but you're definitely not out yet!

@Banana330: I wouldn't freak out until you talk to your OB. I have in my notes somewhere that anything over 10 can sustain a pregnancy (but not sure how the number is measured) - mine was 16 with my last pregnancy and I had no issues sustaining pregnancy (we lost the baby at 18 weeks, but it was a TFMR).

    nectarine / 2317 posts

@winniebee: Thanks! I'm feeling a bit better about it today. More of a what will be will be attitude. But I hopefully will hear from the doc soon!

@periwinklebee: Thanks! That is later than I thought - I was thinking 8dpo on average but then I have gotten 2 positives at 9dpo, so it seemed crazy fast. I am so all up in my head this cycle and I don't even know if I ovulated (or when, really).

  38. periwinklebee

    grapefruit / 4466 posts

@peachykeen: Yeah, who knows, apparently they did a study using a super, super sensitive lab test blood draw to try to pinpoint the exact date of implantation. Keeping my fingers crossed for you (and everyone here!)

I'm dying right now haha. I've been testing all week with negative results and no AF yet. This seems super weird for me, so I'm hoping I'm just getting a delayed positive (which did not happen at all with my first!)
