@periwinklebee: Your LH can surge but not O, like it's gearing up but not ready. It would see odd to O that early in your cycle if you don't normally do. I would keep taking tests (I haven't used the clearblue one so not sure how it works) and BD just in case but if you're going by OPK's I'd keep taking them until you normally O just in case you get two surges this cycle.

@periwinklebee: That is so frustrating about the OPKs. I have never used the more advanced ones, only the wondfos. I have heard conflicting reports about how advanced the advanced ones actually are. Sometimes I think simpler is better. You can buy the cheap ones on amazon and I think they work pretty good.
As for the timing of your cycle, I also felt like once I started TTC it got kind of weird, I had spotting for 4 days before my period the first cycle, so cruel I know. I started ovulating earlier the last 2 months after I had been ovulating kind of smack in the middle around CD16, not sure what caused it. My husband seems to think it is the acupuncture or the shortening days.
I always go pee after having sex, I'm terrified of getting a UTI. I don't know whether it is good or bad, but I've heard of lots of people doing this and still getting pregnant.
I feel ya on the pondering BD on any given night. I've resigned myself to the thought that if it happens it happens, and as long as you have sex 2 -3 times a week it should cover your bases. sex 1-2 days before ovulation is apparently the best time for conception.
Stay strong! We can do this!

@Banana330: @Tionn3: Thanks! Good calling on keep on testing, I will definitely pee on all the sticks
I had some EWCM, so I think this may be it and my cycle may just be weird for whatever reason. It's a super-interesting theory about the length of day having an effect. Maybe that's it... I have my first acupuncture appointment later this afternoon, so that's not what is affecting me. I've also heard that it may be common to have a chemical pregnancy that ends before AF is even late. My symptoms were also weird last month and I chalked it up to imagination, but I wonder if part of the reason things have been weirder after TTC is that something is happening but it just doesn't take. Anyways, as you say, the best approach is probably just to BD 2-3 times per week and not read too much into anything. We can definitely do this!
I agree on the advanced ones probably not being that great - or at least having a higher probability of malfunctioning. I wouldn't have bought it if cvs had any other option (the price was also not good!)

@shellio: he's a psych resident at the big hospital in our city. First year- oof.

@periwinklebee: Woo! That's the spirit. I have also wondered about the chemical pregnancy ending before you miss your period. That first month for me TTC I had a 16 LP which just doesn't happen for me, I had tested at 12dpo and thought I saw a shadow but I was also probably just going crazy, and I didn't test again after that because I went for a short weekend camping trip, and then I "missed" my period and had cramping and brown spotting and tender breasts for 4 days past my expected period, and then boom I got my period on the 5th day, it was so bizarre and I wonder if I had a chemical. I'll never know.

@periwinklebee: only 1 so not too practical. I'm hoping to have some fun before we drive out tonight

I'm just feeling so tired lately. I feel like af lasted so long and just took it out of me this month. Working on getting some more energy back into my days. Today that's not working so well haha.
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@Tionn3: It seems like if there's sperm and egg there month after month, it is not that unlikely that it might fertilize but have a problem that stops growth very early at some point. The end result sucks regardless of what happens before AF arrives. FX for lots of healthy babies in Nov!
@Petitduck: Maybe worth having your iron levels checked, if tiredness seems to be associated with a really long AF? Hoping for more energy soon!

I just stalked the mail lady because my hpts were meant to arrive today and since I'm 8dpo... However she didn't have them so apparently I'm waiting until tomorrow (unless ups has them which I doubt.)
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@Cole: hah, c mon usps. Sounds like a good commitment device to me. Keeping my fingers crossed for good news once they finally arrive!

So sex with a time limit before heading out to be with my family for 2 days, not the best sex
pomegranate / 3212 posts
@snarkybiochemist: haha, file under ways to make ttc sex worse...
kiwi / 680 posts
@snarkybiochemist: =[ yeah I know what you mean. Sex with any kind of time limit can be a bummer.
grapefruit / 4649 posts
@snarkybiochemist: definitely! If this month works out might be due to a similarly romantic situation...

@Tionn3: @Cole: @knittylady: I mean I'm all for a quickie sometimes but this was so pressure filled, the joys of I am ovulating damn it we are having sex
pomelo / 5132 posts
@Petitduck: I feel you on the long AF tiredness! It was never ending last month, and I feel like the tiredness just continued through this AF.
pomelo / 5132 posts
@Cole: omg where are those HPTs?! At least you know one more day means better chance of seeing a BFP!!
pomelo / 5132 posts
@Tionn3: my previous cycle was over 50 days, which is beyond unheard of for me (queen of short cycles here), and I had a very heavy AF following it. Based on what I told my midwife at my annual, she wondered if I had had a chemical, but we will never know
kiwi / 624 posts
@Cole: the worst! Your self control is strong!
@snarkybiochemist: crummy. Ttc..so fun
@periwinklebee: that's a good point. I'm not sure how much is associated with my mood. I had a crappy time when af came by surprise and had a little breakdown that freaked my hubby out. I also take care of two toddlers during the day so that can contribute. I should ask the doctor for a requisition form though or just start boosting my iron more!

Welp, I guess this is happening!
Cycle Day: 17
TTC Cycle: We NTNP for a few cycles, and I go back and forth. But, sex in fertile window happened soooo....
Ovulation Date: No opk this month, but I've been ovulating on CD 19-20 since LO, and today is CD 17. I'll go with Halloween!
POAS Date:AF due 11/13 I think
Baby #: 2!
What's up this month: Pulled the goalie this month, easing into TTC, trying not to get crazy just yet. Who am I kidding-it's about to get crazy
For Fun: What is your favorite Thanksgiving dish? Mac & Cheese
pear / 1614 posts
@knittylady: Yup. We both had LOs in Nov 2013 and threw everyone on our due date boards too Ugh, first year residency! I'm a physician too. Good luck to the two of you, I don't know how psych residency is but I hope it gets better after the first year!
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@Petitduck: Hah, I'm sure taking care of two toddlers is completely draining! I tend towards being anemic, so it always comes to mind.
@snarkybiochemist: Ugh, sorry, hope though you are having a good camping trip!
@dc yoga bee: Welcome and good luck!
So, my opk has staid pretty much the way it looked yesterday morning, with a somewhat dark second line but not quite positive. In the past, this fade in always happened right before it turned positive. This month though I started a new box of cheapie opks (same brand as before). I think the color of the line just isn't that comparable across batches, and I may have a longer fade in if this batch is marginally more sensitive.
I tried acupuncture yesterday. It was super relaxing and the acupuncturist was really nice. Like @Tionn3: mentioned before, they said to expect it to take about three months to see any change in my cycle. I'm hoping it will lengthen my luteal phase, which is on the short side.
grapefruit / 4770 posts
@periwinklebee: I may need to start back up with acupuncture. I got pregnant the first time with a luetal phase of 9-10 days. Now, it's been 8 days. Ain't nothing happening with that!
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@dc yoga bee: I hope if you start acupuncture it will help to lengthen it! I feel like acupuncture is something that I should probably do anyways just for stress and to take care of myself, but without TTC it would be hard to make it a priority. My luteal phase isn't too bad (usually 11 days, sometimes with spotting) but I figure it can't hurt and maybe will help, or at least makes me feel like I'm doing something...

The World Series is cramping my BDing! Games don't end until at least 11, and then I'm exhausted. I mean, I love my Cubs, but I want to make a baby!
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@Mrs. J: Hah, that's hilarious. This cycle is creeping by soooo slowly. I really want to be more patient and appreciative of the present, but the waiting is still driving me crazy. I will count my lucky stars tonight that my husband could care less about baseball so at least I probably won't have to wait til midnight to BD
grapefruit / 4649 posts
@Mrs. J: they did! I am crazy enough that I saved fmu too. I checked at 5 and 10 minutes but still negative. A few hours later there was a shadow but odds are high it's an evap. I'll try again in the morning though!
nectarine / 2317 posts
@Cole: I saw you post. I've had it go both ways before, it's so hard to know!
pomelo / 5132 posts
@Cole: with my first, I had shadow squinters and no BFP until like 15dpo!!
grapefruit / 4649 posts
Negative test and started with bright red spotting. I'm so frustrated, the miscarriage really threw my body for a loop, I'm only on cycle day 22, 10 dpo. I used to have a 28 day cycle but it's been so short that even ff is saying to expect my period by day 25. I know there's a good chance I just need to give it time but ugh.

@Cole: I'm so sorry.
I also have a short luteal phase and am trying acupuncture to lengthen it. I hope yours resolves on its own soon.
@Mrs. Blush: welcome.
Just went for a great fall hike, this is definitely my favorite time of year...

Well camping was fun. My cycle is a mess CD 25, no temp spike and I'm back to EWCM after nothing yesterday. I'm not sure I'm going to ovulate. Now I'll have to get a rx for provera and make an RE appt. Anyone in the Philly area with a recommendation
