Right now, my two dogs have not shown any signs of aggression. I was staying a family member's house recently and for the first time I saw their dog growl at one of the babies. I was shocked. I definitely more cautious around the dog and made sure the dog was in another room while the babies were playing.

One of our dogs nipped my daughter in the face (when she was 3). She was in the room alone with him, and said she was getting in his face and trying to hug him. We seriously considered getting rid of him, but we keep a very close eye on him and don't allow them alone together. It was a tough decision to keep him, if something ever happened to either girl, we would never forgive herself. But he's a sweet dog, and we have talked at length with the 3 year old about reading signs, leaving dogs alone, not hugging, etc.

Not really. But she was already an older dog (8) when we had DD and she was pretty mellow to begin with.

Yes. Our older dog growled when T pulled his tail. It was our fault not Ts or our pup. We never leave them alone and it was an isolated incident.

Yep. My big dog has growled at DD several times. I keep them separate as much as possible. He's the most laid back dog I know so it surprised me. He's old though.

Nope. One cat ignores her entirely, the other is obsessed with her and lets her do whatever she wants. Our biggest problem is DD LOVES the cats and will burst into tears if they leave the room!

Our dog growled once or twice when DS was laying on her. She's generally extremely tolerant of him though. It didn't have any animosity to it, she basically treats him like a puppy. When my parents dog was a puppy my dog acted like alpha and bossed him around and growled at him when he tried to snuggle with her (she only likes snuggling with us). We're always very vigilant when they're together and make sure that DS treats her gently.

Yes it's daily and awful stress. Both were dachshunds who never were around kids.
We just rehomed one of our dogs after 2 years of dealing with it. We are determined to make it work with the other since she is 10 yrs old.

We had to give one of our dogs to someone (my friend) that didn't have any kids, after he started becoming very aggressive to our oldest.
It broke my heart, but I still got to see him when I would visit my friends. I know he was much happier when he didn't have the stress of the kids around him.

No, never- the worst that happens is she gets tired of him bugging her and might knock him over trying to escape. He was recently bitten by my SIL's dog though and I'm pretty upset about it. I think it was really dumb to let him be around that dog, she's old and grumpy. I wasn't there. Fortunately, my son is ok, not a serious injury but he remembers it and talks about it a little.
