The only thing that worked for us was waiting! I told myself the pull-ups thing was better than poop accidents ... any time we tried to force it she would withhold and it would go downhill. We had all the usual - special panties and treats, offers to pick out a big toy - and one day she just decided she wanted to do it. We may be more severe since i think she has some sensory issues.

We also got the suggestions to make her do the pull-up in the bathroom (which we did) and to try to get her to use the pull-up sitting on the toilet, then cut larger holes in it until she got used to it (she would never do it though, until she was ready to just go without). I guess that helps with kids who don’t like the sensation of it falling out of them.

I promise someday it will happen

@bubblegum: @Adira: I'm with both of you. DS decides to poop at home whether in his pull up, his underwear, or just on the floor. He'll hold it if I'm not around.

I'm resigned to it and just waiting. Putting him on the toilet won't help unless I am there too and I just don't care that much or have that much time. He'll decide when he decides.

We have the same issue, and like @Mrs. Toad: she (thankfully) only poops at home (so we can bring her out in undies without really worrying about accidents) however, she won't ask for a diaper so she just goes in whatever she has on at the time. So we're usually trying to balance putting her in a diaper to catch times when she might go but not too much so she doesn't regress with the pee! I figure at least she pee trained extremely easily and we just have to wait this out.

So no advice, just commiseration! We are seeing a little improvement over here so I think it's mostly just a time thing.

@bubblegum: He was very stubborn and resistant to pee training. He is the same about poop and as he was only trained due to daycare requirements, we would move him back to diapers. I have given up caring. I just want him to tell me that he has pooped. He won't even do that anymore.

(Daycare is now on a 1-12 ratio with 2 teachers and 24 kids. They can't handle diapers with that ratio.)

I "ran out of pull ups" we had a not so fun few days with wet beds after naps and poop accidents and some poop holding, but he got it.

Somehow the "I forgot" thing worked even though I still used pullups at night.

@Mrs. Toad: holy smokes! That ratio is crazy! Does that comply with your state regulations?!

@Mrs. Toad: meh, I just double checked and our is 1:8. What's 4 more? Daycare teachers are amazing!
