Have any of you used numbing cream on your LOs before getting their vaccinations? I used to apply Emla Cream on my son's thighs to reduce the pain from the needles, but I don't know anyone else who did this so I'm wondering if this is common or not. It's a prescription cream and my pediatrician recommended it.

I've never done that. I kow shots can be scary for babies but the actual pain isnt that bad and they get over it pretty quickly, so I wouldnt bother

Most of the pain isn't from the needle through the skin, but from the fluid going into the tissue, which the EMLA wouldn't help. I wouldn't bother.

Seems unnecessary to me, LO always gets over the shot pretty quickly anyway.

My LO cries for a minute and gets over it quickly. Don't think it is necessary.
