We finally got around to putting up a huge decal above the crib in the nursery. WHAT A PAIN!! It's super cute, but I would have paid double if it came as one piece

@Smurfette: it was tough for us to choose since I was going down etsy wormholes with some cute prints. Bummer about no decals - they ARE a pain to put up but they are generally fairly affordable. This one is giant and under $40. Have you looked at some of the free printables online? I've seen some cute alphabets and maps, etc.

@aprk: We just bought a bookshelf today, DH is going to be gone all week, so it will be next weekend before we get it together. So I am waiting till we do final furniture placement till I decide for sure what to do. I am not sure if we should do something above the crib or not. Not sure to make a frame secure enough so it won't fall on her.

@Smurfette: Fair enough, I was worried about hanging things over the crib too. Maybe a nail plus the Velcro strips?

We put up a Crayola crayon canvas that we did over our little ones crib. We used nails to hang it on top and that blue tacky picture stuff for the bottom corners.
We also have a mobile on the crib on the wall side so the crib is about an inch or two away from the wall. It kind of serves as extra protection though; that way the canvas will just slide between the wall and the crib and if it falls forward at all the mobile should be strong enough to deflect it.
(Edit: LOL! Love the kitty in the crib.)

We called our decals the "divorce makers"... that's how hard they were to install! (kidding of course, but there was one moment where one of the decals was stuck to me in three different places, including my hair).

@Mrs. Jacks: hah oh no! Yeah we definitely had some stern words for each other at the beginning. Ours came with barely any direction so it was a challenge.

@aprk: yup, no directions with ours either. Just to be clear, we didn't realty fight, but we were laughing so hard about decals being a test that couples would have to pass before having a baby
