I feel like there is so much pressure to do two things I hate: be amongst tons of people in the cold and stay up late.
And it signals the end of the holidays! I just officially can't stand it lol.
Anyone else?

We stayed home and snuggled on the couch so it was a good night in my book
don't bend to the pressure and celebrate how you want to.

@MrsH: I tried to make a nice dinner and male it festive at home, but DH was a total grouch. If it was any other night I wouldn't have felt the pressure to do something special/fun.

I hear ya.
Instead of just being home thia year alone, we did an open house starting at 2 and invited friends with kids to come over whenever - it was great (a little nuts, 15 toddlers at one point, eek).... All the adults got to hang, the kids played and we felt less lame. Ha!

I agree that I hate the pressure! I remember one year I was sick and was actually happy because it meant I could stay home and veg out on the couch!

We were supposed to go to a party but my stomach said otherwise. I slept about 12 hours with some interruptions. DH stayed home which I told him to go anyway. He's been a pain the past couple of days without doing work or much of anything. I can't wait until he goes back to work tomorrow.
DH buys into the pressure of NYE. I've been over it for a few years now.

Yeah its always so so cold here NYE. For us, LO managed to have really crappy sleeps both xmas eve and NYE so I am officially ready to be done the holidays too.

We don't really even acknowledge NYE in our house. We went to bed at normal time and today's a normal day except DH is home from work! Today is my dad's birthday so we'll visit my parents but nothing New Years related.

I usually hate NYE too. I hate clubs, crowds give me panic attacks, I hate how expensive everything is, and I don't really like being around people I don't know. I was so excited to have a baby this year and an excuse to stay home. Turns out we ended up going to a friends house and hanging with two other couples who have daughters in my LO's daycare class. We had an AMAZING night. We set the girls up in pack n plays and they slept like angles while the parents drank wine, ate pizza, watched football, and played games. It was SO fun.

We had our Christmas (sort of) last night. We were away at Christmas, so we hung out and let our seven month old open her presents, which was really fun. We were all asleep by 10:30. Perfect NYE in my eyes.

I was not a fan when I was single at parties and felt awkward when everyone was kissing. But last night I was on the couch with my husband, drinking champagne, and reflecting on the year. It was a reat time.

I was over it by last year...D begged me to go to small get-together at his co-worker's house. Small being 4 guys playing a DnD-like game. And I had the baby there. I spent the bulk of the time in a living room by myself trying to nurse E to sleep while they played this game in the kitchen. Then the guy's dad came downstairs (he was living with his parents while preparing for a move to MN) in tighty-whities and nothing else. He saw me, said "Oh, I didn't know there'd be a girl here! I would have put some clothes on!" but then just stood there, cooing at Evan, still just in tighty-whities. I was absolutely mortified.
The co-worker is one of D's good friends, and was moving soon, and it was important to D to be there, but he spent MONTHS making that night up to me.
This year was super laid-back. We've both been sick, so we just snuggled on the couch in PJs, watched movies and drank champagne, and it was perfect.
Next year I might try to plan a small in-house party with some of our friends and family. Put out Cards Against Humanity, some yummy food and a few bottles of wine. I think that would be my ideal.

I hate the fireworks. It makes my dogs miserable. I don't feel compelled to go out anymore either after a traumatizing experience in the French quarter several years ago. We don't drink much and being sober around that many drunk people is so hard for our first responder/caretaker personalities... we can't bring ourselves to walk past women passed out with scary men. So the whole ordeal is unimaginably exhausting and terrifying.
So yeah we drank champagne on the couch, cuddled our dogs, and went to bed before midnight. Like real lesbians do.
Happy new year!

Next year I've decided to throw a New Year's Eve party...I think we'll get a bunch of helium balloons, boas, etc and do a countdown, but it will be between 5 and 7 pm and the main guests will be toddlers and their parents. I feel like I should do something, but staying up until midnight isn't my cup of tea, really.

I used to feel like this. Especially paying a lot of money to go to a crowded bar that sucked. Can't find a cab home and it's always cold.
But when DH and I first started dating, we started a new tradition where we stay home, make a big meal with multiple courses that we eat throughout the day/night, drink a lot of wine, and generally just be together. It takes the pressure away.
