Wow. Very off-putting.
I understand patients can be tiring, but what she is doing is extremely unprofessional. One can argue, it is her personal Facebook and personal time, but still: it is in bad taste at best.
I am a social worker (currently unemployed SAHM); it would in *no way* be okay for me to go around on social media and tell people how annoyed I am that my clients are still in poverty or that they need to start taking their meds. Um, is that not *my* job to help them? Just like it is her job to be there for her patients, no matter the length of time it takes.

That's horrible! My MWs have often posted when they're at a birth but it's never been in a negative light! Even when she was called to a birth in the middle of the night (often requiring a 2 he drive to the mom) it was always like "no better reason to get up than delivering babies" or something along those lines.

That scares me for her mommas.... I wonder how many ended up with unnecessary interventions or even unnecessary stress bc she was tired of waiting...

That's so unprofessional. I am a social worker who works for an OB/pediatrician team and would never complain about our patients on social media, and neither do they. Occasionally one of them will post a cute non-identifying post like 'so happy to see some baby giggles this morning' but that's it.

Eek inappropriate. Her career is a major part of her life and she needs to act accordingly.

I agree, unprofessional at best, illegal at worst. No one I know in the medical field posts things about patients on facebook. As far as future babies though, don't let this lady make you think all doctors are like that.

She really shouldn't be posting things like that about her patients. At least now you know not to go to her ever!

wow. so unprofessional. i can't imagine DH or any of our friends in the medical field (therapists, nurses, etc) writing anything negative about a patient, even without any "identifying information," as they say. so sorry you've been seeing that!

Any colleague I've ever seen post about patients has been fired or severely reprimanded. If there is any information that might potentially identify the patients, then there is a HIPPA violation.

It's up to you whether you report her to her office managers, but I fully understand your discomfort! It's not the kind of discomfort that would lead me to think of a home birth... I know that not every doc thinks that way

Funny, the doula I know is the biggest oversharer! Intimate details of the birth (how long the labor was, what drugs were used, tearing, etc). Bad manners aren't confined or excluded from any profession!

@thepinksuperhero: AGHH! As a doula that bugs the heck out of me. I would never post personal information about a client unless she gave me permission.

I specifically asked my last client before I posted anything about how long the labor was (a "48 hour labor, I'm so tired so I can't even imagine how she must feel" kind of post), without her name in the post.

I get it, but I really think ranting about work, regardless of profession, is unacceptable.
