O.C. Area HB Meet-up!

Calling all Orange County (CA) and O.C.-area Bees! I know there are quite a few of us (moms & not-yet-moms)!

The weather is getting nice and the days are getting longer! Let's get together for a meet-up!

I think maybe somewhere casual to eat with a large outdoor area (good for LOs and an abundance of strollers) would be ideal! Maybe Corner Bakery at Irvine Spectrum or The Block at Orange? I'm open to other suggestions as well!

I'll also include a poll for weekend or weekday preferences to narrow down a date! Anyone interested?

yes! i would be in for the drive! maybe somewhere with an indoor/outdoor eating/hang out area? i would just worry that the spectrum would be too busy?

Ah I wish I lived in the OC area. I'm about a 2.5-3 hour drive away.

@shopaholic- I would love to meet up. I live in Huntington Beach area. I'm in for the month of May (weekday/weekend would work). I'm heading back to work on the last week of May so anytime after that, it would have to be a weekend until after June when my work ends for the school year. I think birdofafeather made a good point on Irvine Spectrum being a little too busy. I like the block, I think it has a good mix of indoor/outdoor as it is not as crowded as Irvine Spectrum.

I think a good thing to consider is, how many lo ones will be there and how old they are. I know that it is harder when they are younger for us to be able to enjoy lunch and carry on conversations. I like the idea of going to a park where we each can bring a snack/easy type of potluck lunch to share. A park with good shades for the lo and a good play area for older lo. I'm familiar with four mile square park in fountain valley and tewinkle park in costa mesa. Both parks are very nice, plenty of shade and has good play grounds for the lo.

I'm sure there are many other kid and shade friendly parks out there. Just throwing in my suggestion.

Looking forward to hearing what others have to say.

@Mrs Green Grass: i like that idea too! are there any other SD bees besides us? maybe depending on where everyone is, we could do a south OC meetup?

@VanillaBean: good point! i know that @shopaholic: @Mrs Green Grass: and i all have LOs that aren't playing with anyone yet. just probably sleeping or hanging out with mom, so we don't need a "play area" per se, just somewhere comfy to hang and chat!

any other OC/SD bees want to weigh in?

I'm here, and I'm down for a meetup! I agree that a park would be ideal for those with older, more active kids. There's a nice park in Irvine called Citrus Ranch Park that has plenty of benches in the shade for us to eat and a nice park for the kids to play. It's off the Jamboree exit by the 5 fwy - http://www.yelp.com/biz/citrus-ranch-park-tustin#query:citrus%20ranch

I can do the month of May, but not the last week because I'll be out of town.

Edit: I'll be starting work next Monday, but I can still do weekdays and will make it work somehow, but I can't stay for a super long period of time... probably only an hour or so!

@Mrs Green Grass: @birdofafeather: I will definitely be down to meet up down south too! I might need a little more time and experience with driving with LO alone in the car. I haven't really gone more than 10 miles with her in the car alone yet. But for sure I will do it someday!

Hi I'm not a super regular poster but I am a regular reader so I hope it's okay if I join in My lo is five months old and I would *love* to meet other "local" moms! I live in north SD county but my parents are in OC so it's easy for me to find excuses to get up there Also, the park idea sounds awesome!

I never saw this tag until now! I vote for weekend since I work during the week.

Although, I am headed to the OC Mix Mart/SOCO Collection this coming Friday to Granola Babies for The Big Latch On-- would be great if I ran into any bees there!
