I asked to brush my teeth before I got epidural.....

Me and DH were talking to the MW and nurse about future babies in the middle of me pushing for 2 1/2 hours......

I also got a IV med to take the edge of before my epidural that made me feel "drunk" and I kept telling DH I saw the snowman from Frozen when I closed my eyes.....lol

@FaithFertility: I also got an IV med and I told my entire family that I was seeing pink birds and toothpaste when I closed my eyes. lol

I remember talking about how I had to poo and am embarrassed to this day about cursing at the nurses.

After laboring all night and contractions that were still 6 minutes apart I had to get out of the house so we took LO1 to the playground and I was obsessed with taking pictures while we were there.

I went to lunch at the Cheesecake Factory... in retrospect, this was kind of risky as my contractions were about 6-7 minutes apart and I suppose my water could have broken at any moment! However, we were hanging out at a nearby hotel (where my parents were staying, since the hospital was about 45-60 min from my house), and I was hungry! The waiter looked horrified when I had to pause in the middle of ordering for a contraction!

I went to the hotel exercise room with my mom and spent about 2 hours bouncing on their exercise ball while my mom timed my contractions. Luckily there was nobody else there, but if anyone was watching on a security camera, they might have wondered! I did have a few contractions while walking around the hotel in front of people, which was interesting. The funniest was when my contractions were 3 min apart and we were finally going to the hospital. When my husband told a fellow elevator rider that it was go time, he looked super scared! Same thing in the hospital elevator... DH had to apply counter pressure there, I was in so much pain! A nurse in the elevator (from another department), was super eager to exit the elevator and point us to L&D!

Just posted this in another thread--I also had a long labor and went into labor about 8 pm on a Friday night--didn't deliver until early Sunday morning right before 1 am.

That Friday night at home, I couldn't sleep because of the contractions and general excitement so first we all finished hanging up all the baby clothes (my mom was visiting), then mom and DH went to bed about 11 and I tried to sleep but just laid in bed feeling contractions. Around 2 am, I got up and showered, shaved everything, dried and straightened my hair, put on makeup and got dressed. Contractions were 4-5 minutes apart by 4 am but I hung out with myself, checking contents of the hospital bags till 5 am. Then I woke up Dh and we paced around the house (it was raining outside) till 7 am when we woke up my mom.

We all headed to the hospital at 8 and I *felt* like I was in hard labor. I got put in a triage room with a woman watching a spanish soap opera and I was grunting and moaning through contractions and generally being a total bitch because I was in so much pain. I was totally convinced I would be having a baby in the next hour or so.

But no. I totally stopped dilating around 4 cm, even though my contractions were only about 30 seconds apart and sometimes back to back, so I started screaming for an epidural around noon.

Got the epi and the SLEEEEEPPPPPPTTTTTT for hours. Both DH and I slept. My mom was so wierded out because her labors were so fast. I slept, like 12-4 pm and my labor totally stalled. No doctors checked on me, because they had back-to-back emergency C sections. I posted a lot with my birth mom mom friends from WB with play-by-plays. Slept on and off and 10 pm when my doctor finally came by and was like, "Its time for that baby to come out" and they finally turned my pitocin way up.

Pushed LO out right before 1 am. Long but luckily, uneventful labor.

I told DH that he could have some of my sour jujubes, but if he ate the red ones, I would murder him.

Also, while on gas during my stitches, the song Inner Ninja came on, and DH says I just started rocking out. While being stitched up.

This thread is hilarious! I pushed for 3 hours, and I kind of faded out in the middle of it. My DH swears I slapped him a few times when he tried to put the oxygen mask on me and threatened to kill him if he tried again. Apparently I'm an angry type of tired person

I vomited every time DH kissed me during labor with LO 1 and screamed "my butt's exploding" over and over withLO2.

My labor was so fast that I seriously felt like I wasn't even there for it!

But, during my first few contractions, I was standing in our mirror, and just kept asking my husband if he thought I looked like Zooey Deschanel. "Yeah babe! Just like her!", ha.

Oh, and I said, "I feel like my butt is going to explode!" like 50 times. <- Actually, I said "butthole", but I was too embarrassed to type that at first!

My labor sounds a little silly but I still wish I'd done more and waited to go to the hospital. I was in labor for 40 hours.

-cleaned/organized/vacuumed my car
-went for a 2 mile walk
-got dinner at a sports bar halfway through the walk. Was having contractions every 3-4 minutes at that point, I'm sure the people around us were horrified if they were watching at all.
-hung out in a friend's apartment while DH took a nap right before leaving for the hospital
-once we got to the hospital we climbed up and down 7 flights of stairs at least a dozen times to try to get things moving.

I'm about 3.5 weeks away from round 2 and I'm really hoping I won't have time to repeat all this!

I watched Adams Family Values on Netflix because it distracted me and allowed me to relax. I watched it in the dark in the middle of the night while DH and my doula slept for a bit. Thankful for that epidural lol!

In the beginning, at home, we watched Life of Pi. After that I was in excruciating pain so all I did was focus on surviving until the epidural 6 hours later. After the epidural I tried to sleep but wasn't comfortable so I just stared at the monitor while everyone else slept (it was wee hours). During pushing though all I could think about was apple juice. And after they took him to weigh him and clean him off, that was the first thing I asked for. About 10 times. That apple juice was ah-mazing!

@wonderstruck: True! I was so damn thirsty!

I pushed for 2 1/2 hours and in between pushes would fall asleep for these mini 3 minute naps. Funny thing was I dreamt these incredibly intense dreams - about the most banal stuff in the world. Seriously, I had these dreams -- so real I can remember them 3 years later -- about going to Macy's with my mom or picking up some stuff at Target. Weird.

38 hour labor here.....

I remember throwing my pillows at DH in the middle of the night because he was asleep and I needed the laptop charger or a book. I was on multiple IV"s and couldn't reach them myself.

They gave me morphine before the epidural, so while my family was watching Night at the Museum, I was zoning in and out. I'd open my eyes, make an observation about the movie, drink some water, and go off to la-la land again.

I wasn't allowed out of bed except to go to the bathroom so whenever I wanted up I would drink 1/2 a pitcher of water.

After the pitocin, they stopped all food/drinks except ice, so I kept letting it melt and drinking the water.

When the Foley catheter fell out, I was in the bathroom and had to have DH go grab the nurse. It was the first time he'd even seen me sitting on the toilet in the bathroom.

Dh said that nothing I did was odd, points for him.

ETA - I just realized that three of these have to do with water. I guess I was really thirsty.
