So I went into Apple last week (32 weeks preg) to replace my ipad that had a broken screen. This morning, I sent myself a text message from the ipad a list of things to do today as a reminder. My name popped up on the ipad as 'Big Mama.' I thought it was weird, so I asked DH if he did it, and he said no.... So the guy who helped me at the apple store must have put that in as my name when he was setting it up! I know it's not really that big of a deal, and he was probably just trying to be funny, but it kind of annoyed me! Would you be offended, as an 8 month preggo mama, or am I just being over-sensitive?? Not cool, Apple guy

I probably would have called myself that at 32 weeks pregnant, so no, I wouldn't have been offended. But I can totally see why you were. Its never a good idea for anyone to comment on a woman's size, no matter what. I'm sorry about it. I'm sure you are a radiant, lovely mama

I actually probably would have laughed pretty hard. BUT what he did wasn't cool given that he doesn't know you and has no way of knowing if you would find that funny or offensive.

@MCD919: I keep reading about these things in the media. Whether or not you are personally offended, I think you should call the apple store manager just to let them know. It's just a matter of time before this worker labels someone's IPAD with "ugly chick" or "Beer Gut Guy" and it makes national news.

i don't think it's a good idea for people to comment on each other's size like that, so i can see why you're annoyed even if in the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal. i loved my big ol' belly and kinda reveled in other people noticing it (yeah, narcissistic tendencies here) so i probably would not have been offended, but it's kind of random that it happened!

Even if he was trying to be funny, that's not really appropriate. If you are offended, it may be worth a call to the store. I'm sure his managers would like to know about that incident.

My initial reaction when I read your post was to laugh but on second thought I'd be offended too. I might even say something about it. I agree with @Anagram: it's only a matter of time before he inputs a label much worse.
I really like apple products but lately I've been heading more and more about terrible customer service.

Thanks ladies... I was thinking this morning, I'm not THAT big am I?? Although I am starting to feel pretty huge this week, so the timing wasn't great! DH said it was probably some dumb guy who has no experience with preggo ladies, and doesn't realize you should never comment on their size!!! I still will probably call/ email Apple though.
@Anagram: I didn't know this was a common thing?? Is this what they have to entertain themselves? Ugh

Unnecessary! When I was 39 weeks pregnant with DS the cashier at target told me I looked "tired and haggard". I was so annoyed!!! It was a woman too! You'd think people would know better!

So not cool! You should absolutely call the manager at the store and complain. They should at least have a record of who helped you.

ETA: You could be doing Apple a favor. What if next time he enters "black chick" or "nerdy asian guy" and REALLY offends someone.
ETA2: while I do think he thought he was just being funny or cute it's clear he doesn't understand that there is a place and time for it.

I would definitely call the store and ask to speak to the manager. Not the assistant manager, only the manager. Like others have said, what happens when the next time he *really* crosses the line? Supervisors need to know of that sort of conduct, whether he was trying to be funny or not.

Oddly enough, I went to visit Apple's tech squad when uber pregnant. I could tell that they put descriptions of the customers in the comments when checking in. So, I joked with the rep and asked if he was writing super pregnant chick. He very sincerely said that they have guidelines about how they can describe customers (clothing, hair color) but nothing about body shape. He seemed quite serious about it.

I know it's easier said than done but I would try not to be offended. Big as in bigger than usual, big as in bigger than the other pregnant lady in the store who is only five months, big as in pregnant, period...It doesn't mean you're big in general. I'm not defending his action, and for sure call the manager if you feel like it, but I just wouldn't dwell on it or let it take away from enjoying your pregnancy!

I would go back up there and give them a rude awakening. It would take every ounce of me to refrain from cursing the mofo out of that punk!! I am very sensitive with my weight issues pregnant or not! LOL
