Am I overthinking this or is she implying I stole her kid's shoes???

I think I would ignore it and just sell them to her. Maybe show her your receipt.

Hmmmm I think kinda snarky......but if she is offering to buy them, maybe she is saying wow crazy coincidence!

@Apex: I think she was just asking! If you do sell it to her, you could always bring older pictures of your LO in the shoes to show her!

Weird. I would sell them to her. Yours look like they were worn more than once anyway so clearly they aren't the same pair.

@mrbee: I actually bought them used from a consignment store and my son cant fit into them yet. I tossed the receipt so I can't even prove it!
I'm so irritated, my DH thinks I should offer to show her anyways.

@Apex: Yah I would show it to her too... but would make sure I had backup there haha!

I think the second one sounds like she believes you. That's awkward, but I'd totally still sell them to her!

Yes she is accusing you... but then the 2nd post it does sound like she trust that this is a different pair. I wouldn't really feel uncomfortable because in a way, if the position is swapped, I would wonder too (if I don't know my neighbor enough) if they found my shoes and are selling them. She is just being straight forward - it is better for her to ask, then kept wondering about it and looking at you different from now on and spreading rumors, you know?
My 3 year old is wearing size 8. So I am pretty sure yours is a lot bigger than the pair she lost. I would sell it to her so she knows this is really a different pair If you don't sell it to her it makes you look guilty, as if you had something to hide and you didn't want to show the shoes to her because it was indeed her pair.

Ha, I would totally write something like this with the best intentions. I'd be all, "yay coincidence!" and DH would read it and be like "why would you accuse someone??"

@ShootingStar: Lol. I can totally see that happening. I guess I really have to remember that not everyone thinks the same way I do.
pomegranate / 3192 posts
Omg that is SO passive aggressive. I would probably not sell them to her.
pineapple / 12053 posts
I think she's just asking too! I would sell them. My almost 3 year old has size 9 natives, so I wouldn't question the sizing!

I think it sounds like she is accusing you. But I would still sell them to her anyways!

@birdofafeather: I actually don't question the sizing, my 19 month old son is actually starting to wear a Size 8. His feet are huge.

Thanks guys, I emailed her back explaining how i interpreted her question. She apologized and said she didn't mean it that way. I guess she was upset about the lost pair and she really wanted to buy them, so I ended up selling them to her.
I just can't help but wonder if people actually sell stuff they find instead of trying to find the owner of whatever it is.

What a biatch. Lol. I totally think she's passive aggressive accusing you. I have too many of those people in my life to ever want to meet another!
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
The fact she wants to buy them from you means her first response was truly just a question. Overthinking!
clementine / 878 posts
Sounds like something I would write and I wouldn't realize it's snarky, honestly.
grapefruit / 4418 posts
@Apex: people absolutely do and stuff they steal! I don't really see what the problem is with selling something you found though. It feels a listless weird to me and I wouldn't do it personally, but if someone Left it and you find it and there's no way to hunt the person down without a great amount of effort, then it's kind of too bad for them?!

I don't think she's accusing. I think she's just trying to get similar shoes for her daughter the easiest way she knows how and she remarks because it really is quite a coincidence!
pomelo / 5573 posts
I think it totally did come off like she was accusing you (the "what a coincidence" part especially sounded really stealth bitch) but I'm glad you worked it out and all's well that ends well.
grapefruit / 4321 posts
Meh. As long as she's willing to pay me my asking price I probably wouldn't really care if she thought I found them.
grapefruit / 4187 posts
I wouldn't sell them to her. Seems like no matter what she is at least going to suspect you stole them in the best case scenario. Worst case she makes a scene and accuses you. For $10 you don't need that!
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
Eh definitely passive agressive, but I'd just sell them!
FWIW, my recently turned 3 yo is in size 10 sneakers, and I'm probably going to buy sz 11 or 12 natives for him come summertime...
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
I'm glad you talked to her about it and got it worked out and sold it to her! But even if she didn't mean to type it, she probably definitely thought it! It may always be a sneaking suspicion in the back of her mind unless you can show proof that your LO really wore this before, haha!
