We are driving across country for our vacation this year. DH was commenting the other day that he would love to have some alternatives to McDonalds for breakfast on the road. While we will possibly stop at some other types of restaurants to eat, he was looking for easy things to eat on the road. Suggestions would be appreciated.

How long is the drive?
What about breakfast burritos individually wrapped in aluminum foil? Muffins? Yogurt and fruits?

You can always stop at a bagel shop and get a bagel with cream cheese. That's easier to eat than an egg McMuffin, I think!
Is this for stuff you're making or buying?

Good suggestions, we are planning to stay at some points and are looking for hotels that offer breakfast to help a little.
@regeradaisy: Overall the trip is going to require about 60 hours of driving spread over several days.

@purrpletulips: Definitely find some hotels that offer breakfast and snag a bunch of stuff from the buffet for snacks along the way! When I stay at a hotel with free breakfast I usually try to eat something that requires hot or cold while there (cereal, oatmeal, eggs, etc) then grab some fruit, a yogurt, a granola bar (or all three) to take with me for snacks during the day!
also - I highly highly recommend McD's oatmeal if you do find yourself there and needing food. Its delicious and only 290 calories - a nice alternative to their mcmuffins/biscuits/etc!

I LOVE Starbucks oatmeal & I know ours recently started serving some breakfast sandwiches & stuff!
I also LOVE stopping in & getting breakfast taquitos at the Exxon's we have down here. They are SOOO good!
