Now that we have the two kids we've been planning for, this is no longer a hypothetical question for us.
Once you've reached your desired family size, do you plan to change your contraception practices?

Not sure what our desired family size is... I'd love 2 more biological and 1-2 adopted.. We really haven't discussed it yet.

We'll wait awhile. My ideal family size is bigger than we can afford right now. We've agreed on two because of that, but we want to leave options open if something happens where DH starts making more money.

We really think we'll have just one. I think I'll stick to what I use for contraception until I get past the age when I wouldn't want to have more kids. Then we may do something more permanent. No decisions yet, though.

We will probably go the IUD route, because they last up to 12yrs I think.

If he doesn't want a vasectomy, I'm getting my tubes tied. I think he'll opt for the vasectomy.

@hunni: I thought they only last for 5 years?
We've talked about doing something more permanent, but it's slightly frightening!

I don't think so, but it's hard to imagine at this point since we still want at least a couple more. I do think that every child is a blessing though, so I don't think I would get upset by an "oops" baby even if it was past the number we planned.

We have four and they tied my tubes during my last c section.

If I had to get a c section with my last I would have my tubes tied while they are in there. If not, hubs will get a vasectomy.

No, I don't think we'll change. I'm not the type of person to undergo elective surgery for any reason, so unless hubby wants to take one for the team...

@hunni: Interesting, I thought my doctor said otherwise, but I'll be sure to clear it up with her next time I see her.

Its hard to say. I would hate to do something permanent (which we have kind of discussed) and then regret it later on. We are both okay with a big family....it just depends on finances.
I hate birth control pills, wouldn't consider an IUD, and obviously we both dislike condoms. I guess time will only tell......

@chopsuey119: probably will decide after I am 40+ and we know that more biological kids are out of the question. Until then, the pill.

I'm with @chopsuey119 - I'd like 4 (husbone says lets take them one at a time) & for it to be a combination of biological & adopted, but I'm not sure of the ratio as of yet. maybe more than 4 if we can afford/handle it.
