We went cold turkey to the sleep sack starting Saturday night. So far she's been waking only once/night because she can't figure out how to roll over. Good luck!

@c.sassy: ooh that's great! Was she a swaddle addict? T started rolling so I figured we had to go this route.
@sorrycharlie: Thanks!

@winniebee: Yes... she did great in the swaddle! But she was just breaking out of all of them, even the Woombie. I didn't want to deal with the hassle of double swaddling.

@winniebee: Oh good luck, sending lots of good thoughts your way!
We've dabbled in weaning but have kept going back to it out of ease for us... bad, bad. I'm considering going cold turkey tomorrow... I'm so over sleep associations and yet seem to need them more than LO!

@c.sassy: he breaks out of the miracle blanket by 5 am every morning. He went down fine one arm out tonight. Woke up 45 mins later which is not unusual but all I had to do was give him a paci and turn on his mobile. Hope it's a goodsign.

@LAGS: I feel like usually the anxiet over getting rid of the sleep prop is worse than actually getting rid of it. So far ok for us.....Good luck!!!!

Hope it goes well! I tried swaddling one arm out for a nap last week and that lasted about 5 minutes before he woke up Mine also breaks out of the Miracle Blanket now so I think it's time to start weaning.

@littlecasita1122: I have tried it for naps too and it never worked (including today). He went down ok tonight though

@winniebee: how did one arm out work out last night? I am trying to wean my 5 month old son from the swaddle too. I'm trying one arm out for naps and he can't sleep longer than 45 minutes when he used to sleep 1.5 hours or more while swaddled. I haven't tried it at night yet because I'm afraid that he will wake up every 45 minutes and I will die!

@VelveteenRabbit: It was OK - he went down perfectly, but woke up 45 minutes later (not uncommon). Soothed him back to sleep. He then woke up 2 hours later and I soothed him back to sleep again (didn't pick him up). 3 hours later he woke up and I fed him (2 a.m.) and put him back in the swaddle so that he could get a good stretch of sleep. He then slept til 7:30. Frankly, sleep has been kinda crappy in our house for the past 3 weeks, so the one arm out didn't make a huge impact. (Example, the night before he got up after 3 hours, then slept 6 hours, then 3 more). I found him this morning on his side, though.....so I'm concerned about even leaving him one arm out. Tonight, I think I'll just swaddle his body and leave both arms out. Might as well get all the crappy sleep over with at once : )
My son isn't napping for more than 45 mins for naps these days anyways either, so I'm going to try one arm out for naps, too....with the exception of the morning nap since he sometimes sleeps longer.

@winniebee: thanks for the update! I'm so scared that my LO will wake up all night. He can usually sleep from around 6:30pm to 5am without waking up while swaddled. But I don't think I will have a choice soon because he is constantly breaking out of the double swaddle now and wakin up in the process.
I've read that babies can roll back onto their backs with just one arm out but I've never seen this in action since little guy doesn't roll from back to front yet.
Good luck with leaving both arms out tonight! Hope your little guy will be weaned of the swaddle soon.
